5.0 out of 5 stars A Gigantic Effort Feb 23 2006
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
In previous efforts the band demonstrated (quite aptly) their musical skills but something was always missing from the "masterpiece equation". Sometimes it was the production and other times it was the cohesion of the album. This time they made it right and the final product is an alternative milestone that goes well beyond the mainstream definitions. Hard to define, the album is a conceptual, punk angst fueld, art rock with pop quality juggernaut.

I've been a huge trail of dead fan for a couple years now, so I was expecting a lot from this CD when I bought it. Even with my expectations it absolutely blew me away! They sitll sound like TOD, but their sound has matured a lot since source tags. Every track is great on its own, but the album sitll functions as a whole i.e. you can listen to it start to finish without ever really feeling like you're listening to a bunch of different songs... think Floyd. This is an album that is a real album, not just a collection of hits. I'm ranking it up as one of the best CD's I've heard in a couple years with Alexisonfire's Watch Out and Mars Volta's De-Loused. Everyone should own this CD!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars easily one of the best of 2005 Feb 9 2005

Wow, what an album, what a source of inspiration.

For those not familiar with TOD, their music is as colorful and complex as the album cover. A whirlwind of guitar riffs, percussion, poetry and add in a bit of pianos, violins and chellos for good measure. Don't get me wrong, these guys are not cheezy, they still have that slightly out of tune, noisy, trashy edge, but always in a beautiful way.

Those familiar with TOD. This album is a bit different from their previous ones, but be patient. You will quickly accept the evolution of this band and love the album.

I've seen them live too, always custom for them to trash the stage at the end of their shows. Their show-ending behavior may be questionable, but certainly not their talent.
