Strange Advance is one of the most under-rated bands of all time. They are the "future-music" that isn't yet here.

This CD was just what I needed. I had heard the song "World`s away" back in 1983, and it stuck with me. The other songs on the album reflect the band`s performance just as well. One of the later songs titled "Who lives next door?" is an excellent song with memorable lyrics. Also "We Run" which was remixed for the compilation CD, is another fine example of what they did. The other albums from the band (Worlds away,2wo The Distance Between) are all outstanding recordings, if you can locate them. Great music from a great band!

Worlds Away and Back is an odd beast, neither fish nor fowl. It's not exactly a true "Greatest Hits" or "Best Of" package; there are too many singles missing for that. The band's debut is underrepresented, for instance, missing the singles "Love Games" and "Kiss in the Dark." On the plus side, this is the only place you'll find cuts from the band's third album. (I'm particularly fond of "Till the Stars Fall" myself.) There's also a lot of interesting new stuff, too -- demos, unreleased versions, and entirely new recordings. What's here is good, but it feels incomplete on its own. Over 60 Minutes with Strange Advance might be a good companion purchase to this CD.

Some of my friends find them corny. But I am a huge fan. Their best compilation disk. The new version (new in 1995) of "Worlds Away" better than the original. Contains all of my favourites, like "Lady with a Blade", "We Run", "Who Lives Next Door", etc. A lot of their lyrics have a futuristic quality that seem to embrace time and space. Miss them dearly.
