4.0 out of 5 stars More Power Dec 6 2012

Works great. But I have a big yard and the battery doesn't have enough juice to get the whole thing done in one shot.
Very Light. Lots of power.

2.0 out of 5 stars WORX OR NOT WORX Aug. 7 2013

First, this is not for any heavy duty trimming, suitable for small areas with little trimming required.
The battery does not last long considering the small size of the cutting line (10 inch) and a 24 volt lithium battery (and the advertizing hype), I found about 20 minutes and it was finished.
For a light weight trimmer, it is awkward to hold comfortably, and after several minutes your wrist will be cramped.
The durability is unknown at this time, but it feels like it is cheaply made.
The battery release is a challenge, as it is hard to push the release mechanism and get the battery off the trimmer or charger, and I am NOT physically challenged, it is just plain awkward.
Lastly, the price is way out of line for what you get, I paid nearly double for this trimmer compared to others on the market, I have a Yard Works that does just as good, the battery lasts just as long, and is not as awkward to hold and the price was less than half of the Worx.
Over all this trimmer does not hold up to the advertizing hype, and I am VERY disappointed. I would not recommend this trimmer.

This trimmer/edger is fairly easy to use. Doesn't require much in the way of squeeze on the handle so hands don't get sore. Cuts well and leaves nice, neat lines. It would have earned five stars from me if the wheels had a little bit of tread and the handle extended another 5 inches or so to accommodate tall users. Otherwise, cutting performance and battery life have been good. ( I've used it 6 times now.)

5.0 out of 5 stars The more I use it the more I like it! April 21 2012
By G Wheels - Published on Amazon.com
The WG165 is a good looking - ergonomic trimmer. Attention should be made to the reviews that note the line .06 vs .08 size but keep in mind it is a 10" trimmer for a good reason. The 10 inch size has to tell you that it isn't a top of the line heavy hitter. The price for a 24 volt Lithium powered tool is a significant reason why I give it a good write-up. I paid particular attention to the complaints about the battery and battery life before buying. I know a little about lithium power sources from RC models - how and how well they perform. Any device with a lithium power source is worth investigating so I ended up buying a WG165 regardless of the negative reviews based on the power source.

I have no complaints regarding the trimmer. It does exactly what I want it to do after several uses and has only improved in performance. Line life appears to be quite good and I'm impressed how it feeds the line automatically. I have only once adjusted the line manually. I am biased because of my struggle with other electric and gas trimmers that I have owned. The Worx is by far the easiest to use and maintain. I look forward to using it and am very pleased with the included wall mount when done.

Now for the battery and charging. I wish the instruction manual would have been in color so the writer could have put in bold red letters to be sure to charge the battery before the first use. This is VERY important. It is also important to realize how the Lithium-Ion battery requires a few cycles to improve itself regarding power and duration. The battery for the Worx trimmer is in a vented case and is isolated from touch. Therefore, it is important to allow the battery to sit for an hour or so before attempting a recharge. I then position the charging battery so the venting area is not restricted. When using the trimmer I would give it a short rest every few minutes to keep the battery temperature down. Remember, touching the battery case does not tell you the real temperature inside. One final bit of lithium battery advice. Although the power circuit has a voltage cutoff feature I would always recommend not going to that point before recharging. My WSG165 slows a very little bit a few minutes before voltage cutoff. The moment I detect this tiny diminishment I suspend the work, let the battery cool for an hour and then recharge.

I am in wonder regarding the bad "battery" reports. Although the batteries could actually be bad there are a few other factors to consider. Was the battery initially charged? did it over heat at some time? Could the charger be malfunctioning or the automatic voltage cutoff in the trimmer itself have failed. All these "junk" batteries could be the result of them being destroyed by other factors, then replaced and destroyed again by the same undetected problem.

Anyway, the WG165 is a delight to me and sits among my favorite tools. I should probably wait a year to post a review but after several charges with nothing but better power and duration I'm anxious to share my experience. I will edit this if I have a failure but at this point in time it doesn't seem likely. I apologize if the review looks like an advertisement but for the price I paid, the value I have gotten and my past experience with others, this trimmer simply shines.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good not Great April 21 2011
By Dave B. - Published on Amazon.com
After watching the infomercial several times , I decided to purchase this trimmer . I went ahead and bought the 24 volt battery model because of the extra power . After getting it home , I charged the battery for three hours then headed for my yard , I have a medium size yard that normally takes 30 to 35 minutes to trim . I trimmed the entire back yard and got close to half of the front done when the battery died . The bottom line on this trimmer is this , if you have a fairly small yard and you have just some basic trimming to do then the Worx trimmer would be fine . However , if you have a big yard and you have areas of tall grass or weeds youre looking to trim , this trimmer will not get it done . Two drawbacks on this trimmer is the motor is simply not powerful enough to handle tall thick grass . The other is the diameter of the double helix cutting line . It is a smaller line than a typical weedeater line and for that reason it will not handle tall weeds and grass . At the end of the day , its an ok trimmer for small household jobs . If youre looking for a workhorse trimmer to replace your old one , the Worx Gt is not it .

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Nov. 1 2010
By Steve Marino - Published on Amazon.com
I received the Worx 24v lithium trimmer. Awkward to adjust. Feels cheaply constructed. The cutting swarth is small. Loses power (almost stops) when edging through heavier grass/weeds. The spools are very small. My neighbor has an 18v Black and Decker trimmer which I was impressed. I returned the Worx and bought the B & D.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worx does exactly what I need! May 25 2011
By J&J - Published on Amazon.com
I am a retired female that likes to help my husband with the yard chores. We live on a farm with a front yard area (that is not pasture) that we like to maintain by trimming and mowing around the landscape and fence lines. The Worx is perfect for me as it adjusts easily for me so I don't get tired of holding it like our heavy weed whacker. I hated our old gas powered weed whacker. It was hard to start, it stunk and it was heavy and loud. I could never get the string to come out either or it would get stuck and my husband would have to help me. I like the Worx because it does exactly what it says it will do. I even edge the walkways now because it is so easy to do. We plug in the charger, charge the battery up and then I use it for about a 20 + or minus minutes. I have run the battery down only twice so far but it has recharged quick enough to allow me to finish the job. We have not had to change the string yet, which is really impressive also. Ours came with two extra lines, which was a red flag and concerned me that it would run out quickly, but I am using the same real of string line now for at least 8 uses. This weed whacker is great for me and does the job I expect it to. So far, so good!

1.0 out of 5 stars Look for another April 29 2011
By Warren L. Boer - Published on Amazon.com
Saw the commercial and bought this unit ,after all they said it could trim around a track 3 times... ordered the 24v Lith battery...well charged it it worked for about 15 min and went dead. I I charged it again and this time it died in about 10 min .. frustrated i called service and was told " to never leave it on the charger betwee clippings and to charge the battery for 4 hr before every use. Having never had it necessary to make an appointment with a tool before in advance. I got frustrated and parked it fo the season ( since it was over ) Now new season is here and I find the battery holds about 1/2 turn of power and will not take a charge..In the world of tools this is high priced junk!
