WrestleMania XI
April 2, 1995
Hartford Civic Center
Hartford, Connecticut
The Allied Powers V. The Blu Borthers
Very Weak Opener. Allied Powers win. 3/4*
Intercontinental Championship:
Jeff Jarrett (Champion) V. Razor Ramon
Great Match. Should have been a clean finish. Razor wins by DQ. ***1/4
The Undertaker V. King Kong Bundy
Another weak match. Taker carried it. Taker wins. *
WWF Tag Team Championship:
The Smoking Gunns (Champions) V. Owen Hart & Mystery Partner
Owen's Mystery partner just so happens to by Yokozuna! Very good Tag Team Title match. Owen and Yoko win it. ***1/2 Owen wins his first championship in the WWF. A great moment in my opinion.
I Quit Match:
Bret Hart V. Bob Backlund
It was pretty Underwhelming, but a very solid match. Bret puts Backlund in his own hold, the crossface chicken wing, and Backlund screams I quit! ***
WWF Championship:
Diesel (Champion) V. Shawn Michaels
Pretty Good Match. What do you expect, Shawn is in there with Kevin Nash. Diesel wins. ***1/2. The best you can do with Diesel and Shawn
Bam Bam Bigelow V. Lawrence Taylor
Why is this the main event? I don't get it. Anyway, Taylor wins. It's not like Vince is going to make him lose. The match was about a *3/4
This WrestleMania was not great, but not horrible. It was very watchable. Shawn and Owen's performances steal the show. This WrestleMania is about ***1/4 stars.

Diesel vs Shawn Michaels
This was the most low key, underserving main event in Wrestlemania history up to this point.
Diesel had been in the WWE for about 5 minutes and was put in the main event, against a guy nobody took seriously at that time.
I can't stand HBK, but he should've won the championship as it seems a wasted oppurtunity not to trade titles at Mania.
This was insignificant, compared to previous Mania main events with Diesel totally undeserving of this match.
However, it was the best match of the night (more down to lack of any other good matches). And Pamela Anderson's ass looks hot as she is at ringside.
(3/5)
Undertaker vs King Kong Bundy
Taker is hopeless and need to work with guys who can carry him. Bundy couldn't carry a box of tissue. On paper this was a decent opponent for him (Bundy headlined Mania 2) but on screen it was a total joke match
(1/5)
Bret Hart vs Bob Backlund
This should've been the best match in years, but the stupid I Quit gimmick soon killed it off. Hart is good, Backlund sucks and Roddy Piper (guest ref) is just annoying.
(3/5)
Owen Hart and Yokozuna vs. The Smokin' Gunns
Bellow average
(2/5)
Jeff Jarrett vs Razor Ramon
Could've been a classic instead it sucked to death. Poor performances from quality performers
(2/5)
Jacob and Eli Blu vs. Lex Luger and British Bulldog
Trash
(1/5)
Lawrence Taylot vs Bam Bam Bigelow
Awful, just terrible. Worst match in Mania history. Bam Bam was great, and should've been a WWE Champion at least once. But this match killed his career and LT was abysmal.
By having a non-wrestler beat a wrestler in a wrestling match it makes WWE wrestling look like a joke.

Wrestlemania is supposed to outshine every other ppv of the year, but unfortunately, Wrestlemania 11 was probably THE worst ppv of 1995. Even though the 1995 Royal Rumble and Summerslam weren't that great, they were definately better than Wrestlemania 11. I'll admit that some matches were alright, but most of the card featured some of the most worst matches in WWE history. Below are the matches and how I would rate them on a scale of 5 stars.
Shawn Michaels vs Diesel for the WWE championship
The WWE title match and it wasn't even the main event of the night. Instead, they decided to put LT vs Bam Bam as the final match of the card, which made this event suck even more. Shawn and Diesel, however, put on a really good match. The match was as good as i expected, even though the finish was kinda screwed up. ****
Undertaker vs King Kong Bundy
Bad match which moved really, really slow. I can't blame them because King Kong Bundy is over 400 pounds and the Undertaker always moved at a slow pace. Nothing good about this match. 1/4*
I Quit match
Bret Hart vs Bob Backlund - special referee - Roddy Piper
This match was pretty underwhelming considering that it was an I quit match. Other I quit matches have involved chair shots and the wrestlers have actually exited the ring. This one was strictly submissions and it did get boring at times. It wasn't all bad though, since Hart and Backlund are pretty talented. If they just let this one be a normal matchup and gave it a little more time, we would've had a definite 4 or 5 star match. But since it isn't: ***
Tag Team championship
(the late) Owen Hart and (the late) Yokozuna vs. The Smokin' Gunns
Good match. Yokozuna was actually Owen's mystery partner and these 4 put up a good match.

Vince McMahon had great hopes for WrestleMania XI. The WWF was going into the final stages of its long battle with a steroid charge, and the outcome looked bright, and the advertising team was launching the "New Generation" campaign. WrestleMania XI was supposed to be the event that launched the World Wrestling Federation back to mainstream acceptance; alas, it was not to be.
There is one five-star match - Bret Hart vs. Bob Backlund in the "I Quit" epic. It is the only good match of the night - Diesel vs. Shawn Michaels for the WWF title had an unfathomable amount of potential, but these two superstars failed to deliver. Maybe it was because of the copious amount of celebrities present at WM XI - maybe the WWF didn't want to be seen in a negative light with any extra violence.
Still, the presence of celebrities should not hamper quality. And WM XI lacks quality.
Noteworthy: The Undertaker's WM winning streak continues. At this event he became 4-0 at the "Granddaddy of 'em all." And LT vs. Bam Bam Bigelow? Pleeeeaasse.
