I'm a big fan of sci-fi/fantasy comedy books, such as the MYTH books and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, so I thought why not try something new? Writers Anonymous is an amazing, incredibly funny book. It takes the conventions of fantasy books and turns them around in a clever way.

The main character, Atrail, is somewhat of a Conan spoof, big burly, 'everything that could go wrong with me' did kind of guy. The rampant clichés drive the characters to distraction until they start questioning their existence. I thought this was a pretty clever part about the book, bringing in the author who is attending one of those AA like meetings for writers.

The interaction between the author and Atrail is great. Atrail really comes off as 3 dimensional character. He actually reminds of the standard Edgar Rice Burroughs character. Unassuming, modest, yet tough and strong guy. The pictures are fantastic.

I completely recommend this book to anyone in need of a little bit of fun.
