Let me first clarify that I am writing this review about the book, not the companion workbook, which I do not own. I am an amateur family historian and have spent a decade researching my family. I now have before me a large pile of dates, facts and documents that create the skeleton of a life. I am now ready to sit and write, but what a daunting task it is! I can see a good story in my mountain of data, but have no idea how to actually do it. After much frustration, I stumbled upon this book and am finally finding clarity and direction. I have not read it completely yet, and have jumped around a bit to the areas that interested me most, but it's been helpful thus far and am now working my way through the whole thing from the beginning.If you are not a professional writer but are looking for guidance on how to turn your mountain of data into a compelling narrative, you will find this book helpful. I hope to upgrade it to five stars after I have read it completely.

THis is a great book from a great Genealogist. Its step by step exercises make the telling of your family story an enjoyable process with a results that will be cherished by future generations.
