Purchased this little vacuum because I was unable to use my conventional vacuum due to back pain. It is an amazing little machine. It picks up all the dog hair (2 dogs) and crumbs the kids leave behind. I am very happy with my purchase and found it easy to get it out of the box to cleaning the whole house. "Henry" as my kids have named it, not only keeps my house spotless but has also proven to be very entertaining for the kids and dogs. Would purchase it again!

It picks up dog hair from everywhere except where the dog is sleeping. Cleans our 1700sq. ft. bungalow on two battery charges and does a very good job on carpet and hardwood. Not a complete replacement for a manual vacuum cleaner, but it lets me vacuum once every couple of weeks instead of few days. Highly recommended.

I really like the Neato. I have had Roomba in the past and always liked them also. There are a a few things that I loved about the Roomba that are not current with the Neato though. This magnetic strip you have to put down to stop the Neato is not nearly as convenient as the towers you get with a Roomba AND you got 2 towers not 1. Also when the Roomba got stuck it yelled for help. The Neato will signal its caught but its such a soft sound you don't hear it unless your in the same room. However on the plus side, The Neato is MUCH easier to dump out and holds more. It does a much better job of hitting the whole area instead of the random running of the Roomba. I find it much quieter then my old Roomba especially on the tile areas. I love how it returns to base to recharge then goes off to finish where it left off. Also The Neato does not flip over my rugs like Roomba used to! Even the thin mats by the doors and in the baths are neatly cleaned. All in all In would recommend the Neato for its improved cleaning power but I sure hope they come up with something like the Towers instead of this stupid long strip to use for a block AND PLEASE Neato make the sound signal louder.

My wife had previously purchased a "pet vacuum" from the leading competitor. It was unable to complete a cycle withoutm"alarming out" due to hair and/or dust allowing the wheels to spin. It also was almost damaging to our furniture, as it used "touch" sensors to navigate a room. To the point where the bars tools were being moved as it "crashed into them. The flooring surface we are vacuuming is approx. 2500 sq feet of polished, lacquered concrete.

It was so unerving to observe that when I purchased a new pool table I raised it on 6"x6"x1" thick blocks so that the legs would not be damaged.

With the Neato this is completely not required. The Neato will not run into anything with a cross section larger than 1". So if you have very "fine" chair legs it may run into them, but it is very unusual. The only chair legs I have observed that the Neato laser system did not register we're on a piano stool, and they are very fine, approx 3/4" square.

The Neato has never been unable to complete a cycle. No alarm out at all! We simply maintain it by emptying it after a cycle, and lightly clean it with a damp cloth to remove dust. Very easily programmed to run while we are at work. Much better than the competitor model we owned prior.

I read a lot of horror stories about this before I bought it. Complaints about faults, sticking wheels, sticking brushes, failing batteries. But I took a chance. It took a few days to properly charge and after the 2nd or 3rd cycle it was able to vacuum my whole home in two charges. It does the kitchen, dining, living area and hall on one charge. Then the 3 bedrooms and bathroom on another charge. I empty the dust bin and clean the cat hair (we have 3 cats and a dog) from the brush and belt after it has cleaned the whole house. I never have any problems! It keeps going and going.

This has been a fantastic investment that saves me so much time and keeps my home much cleaner than usual. It also means a world of difference to my allergies. The neato does its thing 3 times a week, which is more often than I'd have time to vacuum manually. Once every two weeks I spend 20 minutes going around the edges of the home with the regular vacuum just to catch fluff balls that gather in those hard to reach spots behind furniture and stuck in cabling, and that's all the vacuuming I ever need to do, because the neato takes care of the rest.

I've had two different robot vacuums in the past, both Samsung, and both died after a year and couldn't be resurrected without costing more in repairs than buying new. Since Samsung got out of the market, I was looking at Roomba and Neato. A pre-Xmas sale on the XV-21 was enough of a temptation to buy one. It arrived and was duly unpacked, installed, and set to work. Problem was, it didn't work. The batteries would hold a charge for about five minutes, then the device would scurry back to recharge. A quick call to the Neato customer service line resulted in new batteries appearing a week later. Once installed, the issue disappeared.

In use, the charge lasts about 45 minutes, then takes a few hours to recharge. The suction on this device is very good (although it is not as noisy as my Dyson, which surprised me): with three dogs and a cat, there's a lot of hair my Dyson Ball usually picks up, but the Neato has reduced my manual vacuuming to every other day. With that amount of pet hair, the dust box and filter clog in one run and the thing has to be emptied after each vacuum, but that's fine as the device is getting a lot of the hair on the floor. The logic the device follows to cover a room is a little weird, sometimes covering the same spot a dozen times and leaving some other spots essentially untouched, but overall this robot has been a great addition. I've got in the habit of moving it from room to room, letting it do its thing. After one month, it's worked so well I've ordered another one for the second floor, hoping to reduce the amount of manual vacuuming I do every week even more. Long term reliability I can't speak to, but in the month I've had it, it's worked well. The battery issue was a concern, but customer service made it right.
