The kit contains:
-189 adhesive foam squares. These are 1/4 inch thick, which is frankly too thick for scrapbook use and for most card-making. I cannot fathom why so many were included.
-1 adhesive eraser. I have not used this, so I don't know if it works. There are no instructions included for how best to use it, but I assume it is supposed to be used like a regular eraser, to remove adhesive from paper.
-20 feet of transparent tape, in a sturdy, pink, plastic tape runner. An average roll of transparent tape contains around 37 feet, so I don't expect this would last very long. It is referred to as "disposable", so I am assuming that tape refills are not available.
-29 feet of double-sided tape in a heavy paper dispenser with a metal serrated cutter. Again, when compared to other brands of double sided tape (which contain around 33 feet), I don't expect that this tape would last long for the average paper-crafter.
-10 feet of one-inch sticker tape in a sturdy, pink, plastic container with a metal serrated cutter. This, too, has no directions for use. It is also referred to as "disposable", so again, I assume no refills are available.
-.75 oz bottle of clear-hold adhesive for embellishments. This is half the size of other brands of embellishment glue. I have not used it yet, so I cannot attest to it's hold.
Bottom line: The presentation of the product, in the lovely pink box, is the kit's best feature. At the current price of $25 for this set, it is extremely overpriced (even considering the addition of the reusable box) for the small amount of product it contains.
So, I selected this adhesive kit, knowing that, in spite of my craft-horror, it would be used.
And I have to admit, I liked it.
This is a very pretty little box filled with all sorts of adhesives. And I can assure you that, this weekend, the resident five-year-old found use for them all. It's got double sided tape, liquid adhesive, nice little foam adhesive squares, and even an adhesive eraser - I had no idea such a thing existed!
My daughter and I worked on a scrapbook, made Halloween owls and cats, and I made something that was supposed to be a puppy. I'm told by the five-year-old that my puppy looks like a punk rock potato.
The box is lovely, can be kept out rather than stored away, and makes a very nice storage place to keep your adhesives all in one place.
While it didn't improve my crafting skills, it was very much appreciated and will get a lot of use in the future!
I love double sided tape as it is easy to work with and produces wonderful results with many different techniques such as glitter and thin foils. The tape inside this kit may not last long, but long enough for someone to decide if they love it or hate it. The foam squares will last a long time and these are super easy to elevate a paper element on a card or scrapbooking page. The liquid adhesive just takes a drop to adhere an embellishment or bow or whatever to a project. It dries clear and works very well when one needs a dab of something stronger than tape.
All is all this is a pretty kit that would make a nice gift for a scrapbooker or paper artist. If one is new to the craft, they would adore this kit and it would give them many goodies to get started with along with the pretty box to keep them in. This box is also great if you go to scrapbook or card making parties or get togethers. You can just take out your handy box and all your adhesives are easy to find.
Just the other day he came in where I was working and made this announcement. "I have a can of spray adhesive and some GLITTER!"
Then he left.
I thought that was very nice of him, to "share" that with me.
I asked him what he was going to do with it later and he said he has no idea as yet.
I will tell you this...
If you like to "make art" and you are not frightened to try new things, this little portable box of all sorts of adhesives is perfect for you.
At the moment, jewelry-wise, I am using resin and jewelry clay and many times I have wished I had a small collection of adhesives, because often you need them in tandem with resin and so on. For example, if you have a picture you are going to pour resin on, you need an adhesive first to secure it to the bezel or whatever you are using. You let it dry and THEN you add your resin.
My husband, besides being a glitter freak, likes to use double sided tape to add little decorations to the posters he puts up in our living room.
So he will be using the tape a lot. He tapes things like butterflies and bees to pictures of one of his heroes, Muhammed Ali, for example, knocking out Sonny Liston in that classic series of three photos. Yes, our poster of that has pretty bees and butterflies all over it because of my husband. "Float like a butterfly ... Sting like a Bee!", as Ali would say.
Give yourself the gift of freedom of expression with this "go ahead and experiment", finely and prettily put together box of adhesives. You never know.
You might be the next Salvador Dali.
I love it, I will use it, my husband will use it, it is pretty and friendly looking, and it IS NOT EDIBLE ) despite the fact that one of our kids thought it was a box of chocolates, which it does resemble. Therefore, not to be left out in front of some kids. Humgry kids!
Great selection. Heading to a site to see how to use the foam board squares right now!
I love learning new things and this is perfect for me!
