5.0 out of 5 stars Moving and ... just different, July 23 2008
By
Kathleen Bajart "Kagari-hime" (Canada...unfortunately) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Moon Child (DVD)
The movie is a mix of action, sci-fi and human drama with a splash of politics. Gackt surprises his fans by acting so...un-Gackt-ish with his sometimes goofy or quirky attitudes. Hyde delivers a sensually appealing rendition of a modern day vampire attached to his human friends. Together= wonderful chemistry between the two. they seem like they really have known each other for the past 600 years. ^.^
A must see, especially for Gackt, Malice Mizer, L'Arc-en-ciel and/or HYDE fans. Ready the popcorn and the scotties!

3.0 out of 5 stars It was amusing if you really want to see fanservice, Dec 7 2005
This review is from: Moon Child (DVD)
I bought this out of curiosity, since I wasn't really a fan of either Gackt or Hyde at this point. I only knew of Gackt because of a friend and I only had recently bought a Laraku album.

Quite honestly, the movie was simply ok. It didn't move me to tears nor did it blow my mind. It was filler entertainment. Gackt had his moments, but he would have made the better vampire, with all the posturing he does.

Hyde was decent, that was all. I wasn't moved to care anymore about his character than I cared about Gackt's.

I think the only thing that made it passable was the fact that I was half-asleep when I saw it and it made sense then.

I have to say get this movie if you are a hard-core fan of either singer, but don't bother actually buying it if you're a J-rock philistine, cause it will make you regret spending the money and time on this vanity project.

3.0 out of 5 stars Even Gackt and HYDE Couldn't Save This Movie, July 14 2004
By
Mysten (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Moon Child (DVD)
Let me start by saying that I bought this movie only because I'm a big Gackt fan and a fan of HYDE, too. I have to say, I wasn't dissapointed by them. I was dissapointed by the plot. Or should I say, the lack of a plot.

The movie's main plot was very weak at best and the whole thing lacked any sort of cohesion at all. I would have to describe it as, 'Some guys and an incidental vampire shoot at each other and they all end up dead.'

The whole vampire angle was the only thing that interested me, but it was almost ignored until the last fifteen minutes of the movie. And when it was finally remembered, it was done in a very cliche manner with the ever-dreaded vampire-angst. Perfectly willing to gun people down, we still don't like drinking blood.

So, in closing, I would only reccomend it based on a love of Gackt and/or HYDE. Gackt looked very cute throughout the entire movie and HYDE looked nice most of the time. If you're just looking for a good movie, don't waste your time here.
