Unforgettable, Oct 12 2007
I noticed that some authors load their stories with characters that live glamorous lives and plots that are as complicated as soap operas to make the novel more interesting. Ms. Spencer has done an amazing job of weaving a story that is so enthralling in its utter simplicity. The characters are ordinary people who live ordinary lives, and it is through Ms. Spencer's skillful storytelling that the situations they face everyday and the internal conflicts that they struggle with are made extraordinary. It shows us that a book doesn't have to have "un-ordinary" people for extraordinary things to happen.
The title is appropriate not just (superficially) because of the sixteen-year age difference between the two main characters, Linnea Brandonberg and Theodore Westgaard, but also because the novel is about continuity of life, which was depicted by different generations of the Westgaard family. It's about the joy and innocence of childhood, the uncertainty and impulsiveness of adolescence, the dogged obstinacy of adulthood, and the philosophical self-possession of the golden years.
"YEARS" is: impossibly beautiful, down-to-earth, effortlessly captivating, graceful, seamless, tender, sweet, real... there are no words that could completely describe just exactly how wonderful this novel is.

A classic!, May 4 2004
One of the first Spencer books I ever read and I continue to re-read the book every year. Spencer is phenomenal creating truthful, honest characterst the reader can relate to; Linnea and Teddy are realistic and flawed, yet endearing. The story between the two of them is brilliant and, again, realistic; the conflicts in their romance are as appropriate in today's modern world as they were on the prairie at the turn of the century. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to read a classic romance novel!

Unforgettable book, April 6 2004
I read this book in 1995. I have never forgotten the loving and touching story. Few stories have touched me like this one did. In fact, should I ever be blessed with another daughter, I'll probably name her Linnea.
