Book Description

Betsy Whyte was born into a family of travellers who roamed the Scottish countryside between the wars. The summers were the best times, out on the open road, while the winters were spent in houses, pining for the first sign of spring - the yellow on the broom. Betsy Whyte's vivid description of a childhood on the road amidst a misunderstood people is a rich evocation of a vanishing world.

5.0 out of 5 stars fascinating look at an earlier time, Nov 24 2007
By Lorena Orndoff - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Yellow On The Broom (Paperback)
This book is the story of one of the travelers (aka gypsies) and her life growing up in early twentieth century Scotland. It's vividly written, and portrays a way of life that is very different than I expected. I highly recommend it and the sequel.
