I love this movie. I inquired about it a few years ago & couldn't find it, so I was thrilled when I saw it was out in DVD & I could get it from Amazon. I love anything Barbra Streisand does. Her voice is so pure & effortless. Even though I am not Jewish, I love Jewish music & movies, such as, Fiddler on the Roof, as well. I am so glad I have this now in my library.

Even though i don't think much of Barbra as a person, and my reviews can be cruel to some people, I will always be honest and give credit where credit is do.This by far, next to "Funny Girl" is Barbra's best film. Unlike the reveiwer i found ALL the songs beautiful and very important to the story. The music is loving, touching, inspiring and uplifing even if they make you cry.Mandy and Amy add so much to this film also and play great convincing rolls. My only problem with it is, why isn't this on DVD? Other than that this film is a treasure and can be somewhat compaired to "Fiddler on the Roof" for original Jewish story. You won't be disappointed.

Poor Quality Copy
The VHS desperately needs remastering. If people want to see Babs dressed up like a man, then we need to get this released on DVD.
