3.0 out of 5 stars An "ok-ish" Album April 25 2007
Format:Audio CD
At first, I thought that I made a mistake purchasing this album. However, there are a few good versions of thier classic songs on this album. If you're looking for a vast improved version of "Five Percent of Nothing" you'll find it here. They took the 30 second song and turned it into a highly energized, 5 minute song. "No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed" Is another great re-done song on this album. The updated effects and acoustics make the song seem amazing. Unfortunately, Most of the other songs only have brief moments that sound good. Most of them are filled with annoying repetition and are sloppily re-organized. If all the songs were kept in their original format, and if only the effects and sounds were updated, then I think that the CD would have been a great success.

1.0 out of 5 stars Remix this June 1 2004
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Why didn't I read the reviews before buying this? Any kid with a Mac and Garageband could do this crap in his sleep. Avoid this at all costs - it cost me 19 bucks.

1.0 out of 5 stars LAME AS POSSIBLE April 7 2004
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I had no idea that Steve Howe married a robot. How funny that his progeny seems to have the musical sensibilties of a pepsi commercial. Hello!! Does every single song have to have some stupid, repititious loop, some robotic sampled endless looping beat to it? Why take music as creative as Yes and make it sound like something from a Gameboy? or some Techno commercial nonsense? Maybe Virgil never actually listened to his dad's work. Hey, to each his own, but please leave Yes alone unless you have more talent than this. This sucks. I'm taking mine back. Waste of money. Steve, spend some dough and get someone with more interesting tastes if you want remixes, someone who would honor your work, not twist it into garbage.

1.0 out of 5 stars Huge Dissappointment April 4 2004
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
It was my fault for not listening to the track selections on Amazon before purchasing on another site. This is the biggest piece of junk every produced by Yes. I was a huge fan in the early years and was looking forward to this compilation. Now I'm stuck with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars An Abomination March 16 2004
Format:Audio CD
I wish I could give this travesty zero stars. Shame on the other members of Yes for letting Steve Howe practice blatant nepotism by sanctioning the release of these "remixes" by Howe's son. A room full of chimps armed with a mixing desk and some Yes albums could have put together something better than this joke.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yes son meets Dad March 8 2004
By Old Fan
Format:Audio CD
As a 50 year old Yes fan with such vivid and wonderful memories of Yes music and the late 60's and early 70's YES concerts filled with psychedelic magic, I let the son remix if Dad likes, but I certainly would not buy this.

No! Sacrilege! Please consider the sanctity of good prog music before buying the anathema.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Rhythm of Big Generators Jan. 17 2004
Format:Audio CD
Imagine this scenario - a fat and balding guy with an Allman Brothers t-shirt passes the 'Y' section in the music shop and stares down at this Remixes album. He is of the 'Fragile-and-nothing-else' Yes fan variety. He never liked Trevor Rabin. He remembers getting stoned to Relayer years ago. He loves Yes' classic hits 'Long Distance Roundabout' and 'Lucky Man'(as he remembers it). He hasn't heard 'The Ladder' or 'Talk' yet, and he secretly kinda-liked 'Drama' but won't admit it because so-and-so wasn't on that album. He will not like this album.
For the rest of us, think of it as a 'Fun With Yes' ridiculous remix/reconstruction album which a)isn't an official Yes album so stop whining about 'blasphemy' b)isn't really a techno album either- these are not 'dance remixes' and c)is pretty much a fun album, don't take this so seriously it's just some extra Yes fun. These tracks were hacked and slashed up, remixed and remodelled, put on loop, put in a blender and put up for sale by 'The Verge' which is Virgil Howe, Steve's son. So all of the tracks here are from the classic Howe period 1970-1980. No 80's material, which would have been probably easier to remix. But these are more 'reconstructed' than remixed - again, these are not 'techno' or 'dance' mixes. Some are hard to catagorize, and some are barely recognizable. 'Tempus Fugit' and 'Arriving Ufo' have spunk and wit, while 'Awaken' glides into ambient nirvana. Some tracks are more successful than others, 'Heart Of The Sunrise' sounds as if someone's pressing the skip button in places, and 'No Clowns' is just a sound collage. Another annoying thing is the cd cover, in which you actually have to hold it up to light to read the liner notes.
Mostly a lot of these sound like totally new tracks.
