The instructions in this book are excellent, as are the theory and the research. There are too many yoga resources for general health or people in general. When someone is new to yoga and - as is increasingly the case - looking for help for health issues, then yoga can not be general - nor was it ever intended that way.

Yoga for Arthritis and Yoga for Osteoporosis are both brilliant resources for their target audience. And, in fact, because the yoga is presently so well, the yoga asana (poses) are so well described, these books will augment any serious yoga teacher's collection of material and be very useful.

Getting a diagnosis of osteoporosis at any age is not fun. Finding information on all the options can be overwhelming and disheartening. This book gives you the nitty gritty of what the disease is about, the medical options to reduce some of the physical deterioration, and specific yoga exercises that are safe and effective to further improve ones physical being - all in one book!

I love yoga, and initially thought I would have to give it up. This book not only gives you the exercises that help your bones, but gives variations for each exercise for those with osteopenia and for those who want to prevent osteoporosis.

Thanks to the authors for writing this one, and to my yoga instructor who was enlightened enough to recommend it to me.

For anyone concerned about trying or resuming yoga after a diagnosis of osteoporosis, this book provides very useful instruction on how to do poses in a manner that is safe for people with this condition. It provides modifications to poses for those with osteoporosis, osteopenia (almost osteoporosis)and those without either, but just wanting to prevent developing a problem with their bone density. Such modifications are also useful for those who are just extremely stiff, inflexible or sore and wanting a way to ease into the poses. It makes starting up with yoga a lot less intimidating!
