Not what I expected,
By
Ce commentaire est de: Yoga Journal's Family Yoga - D (DVD)
I was looking for instruction that would teach the basics of yoga to my 9 year old. This DVD does not provide that.It is essentially Rodney Yee, his wife and three children, all taking turns being on the 'lead' mat, leading the yoga session, but not enough explanation. There is little in the way of basics of yoga, there are some adjustments to positions, and showing that you can fall sometimes, but that is about it. With my other yoga DVDs (I have a lot) I have never yet gotten to handstand - that would place this instruction beyond beginners for me. Maybe I assumed too much when I purchased it but when I saw it was a family DVD, I thought some clear instruction and basics for children would be included. I watched it from start to finish and decided to use Yoga for Dummies DVD instead, which was far superior in giving clear, concise explanation that a child can appreciate.

My 5 year old and I love this video,

I don't agree with the other two reviews. My 5 year old daughter saw this DVD at the local library and wanted to borrow it. She and have both taken yoga classes and have also used DVDs for yoga. We love it! Maybe it is not the best DVD for beginners, but I do find it to not only be easy to follow but to also be a good class, since it is NOT a step by step of the different poses. I am not looking for a step by step of poses, I wanted what is essentially a class to follow. I just read the front and back cover of the DVD package and it doesn't say anywhere that it is for beginners. It says it is for kids 3 and up, which seems right because even my 2.5 year old will follow along. It flows like a class and gives you a workout. This is produced by Gaiam and Yoga Journal, which are leaders in the yoga field, I doubt they would want to produce or put their names on a bad yoga video. I am purchasing this today because we really enjoy it and my daughter and I can get the most out of it by doing it to the best of our individual abilities.

More like a Yee family video than an educational tape,

I concur with the previous reviewer...consists of the Yee family laughing and taking turns doing a boring series of routines...save your money.
