I have read the book and I like the step-by-step instructions. It's a useful guide for someone who is new to this medium of drawing and painting. Someone with little or no knowledge or pastels drawing can start by looking at the basics illustrated in this book. The price of this book is also not as costly as some instructional art books on the market.

Good introduction to pastels,

I am a beginning artist, and I've always been interested in finding a cheaper alternative to using paints. I was also getting kind of bored with drawing. I bought some pastels and this book, and got started right away, only to find out that I don't believe that pastels are the medium for me. I don't feel like I have any control with them like I do a pencil. I personally like working with colored pencils for color drawings. This is a good book though for introducing pastel medium.

I am an absolute beginner and this book was a great help. It takes you step by step through techniques to making pictures and includes a list of the colors you need. It helps build up your skills. If you know nothing about pastels but would like to, BUY THIS BOOK!

This book enables a beginning pastel artist to grasp the fundamental. I have looked over a number of books on pastel painting and this one is more comprehensive and useful.

I have got the french version and yes this book is suited for the beginners.
Just 6 pastels for the beginning (3 warm color and 3 cold color) and move on |
