Insightful Quick Tips on Career, Life, and Style, July 5 2010

This book could almost be coined as Kate White's notes on life, love, career, and style. It's a very easy read and is full of advice based on White's own experience and/or the experiences of friends and coworkers. She is upfront and very insightful in her guidance. The book is split into 4 sections with multiple chapters to dig deeper into particular topics. For example, her section on career give you ideas to update your resume (make it pop!) as well as dealing with rats in the workplace. Love/Sex is almost an extension of her Cosmo articles, giving guidance in relationships, etc. Style is based on tips from her fashion department (for example, have your shoes define an outfit and don't match red shoes with a particular clothing- it's too much!). And finally, the last section covers life, which mirrors her other book "Why Good Girls Don't Ged Ahead But Gutsy Girls Do," but also gives some advice on how to combat stress. I found this book incredibly fun and insightful for any working girl looking for quick tips from someone who may not know it all, but knows quite a lot!

I really liked this book because it was action oriented. The tips were simple, the stories and examples that Ms. White used for the reader to relate were right on. I like that the book is done in short chapters divided into subjects which made it easy to go back and use the book as a reference and not just reading. It is a candid view of subjects yet allows the reader to fit the skill into her own life using her own personality. The book is divided into 6 parts: Part 1- Starting Now, Part 2- Work, Part 3- Men and Love, Part 4- Sex, Part 5- Style and Part 6- Life.
Great little Gem to have on your book shelf ;)

This is the same book as "How to Set His Thighs on Fire". The chapters are in different order though. The book gives very useful advice to women, young and old, on work relationships and intimate relationships. I liked the author's upfront style of writing, the examples given, and the no nonsense approach. I will be giving a copy to each one of my nieces when they become of age. Good advice!!
