I'll touch some brief pressure points. First, I liked how Miller emphasized the need to track the performance of your videos. If you're trying to put people into your funnel then you need to know what content works and what doesn't. I also like how he gets across the versatility of video marketing. You can make several types of videos including educational and entertainment videos, it really runs the gamut. He also includes a lot of pictures pointing out specifically where things are in the various software and online accounts you may run into. On the downside, all it takes is one update and the menu displays could change.
In terms of negatives, there isn't that much. I wish he would've went into greater detail for solopreneurs (that is, people with lean operations). I also wish he would've devoted more attention to the actual process generating content for YouTube. I always have a tough time trying to repurpose content for videos so it would've been nice to discuss how this could be done. Also, some readers may be off-putted by the minutiae. In some parts, Miller goes into a lot of technical detail (such as discussing hardware and codecs) which may overwhelm the casual reader.
Aside from these points, I think it's a great book and well worth the investment.
"YouTube for Business", provides the perfect combination of both the technical and practical aspects of online video production and promotion. While the author, Michael Miller, is truly well versed in this area of expertise, he does not make the same assumption about his readers. As such, "YouTube for Business" is perfect for any business who wants to move to the front of their niche by marketing via video to those who fit the definition of the "ideal customer". This is true regardless of your previous experience with marketing, or even creating videos.
This is an extremely well written book. It will leave you with a clear understanding of the exact steps that you will need to take in your YouTube Marketing strategy to experience newfound success in your business. "YouTube for Business", receives the highest of recommendations from this reader.
7/14: YouTube for Business is a handbook in how to get started with Youtube mainly for advertising a business. Mostly, it seems to be aimed for corporations. Personally, I didn't find anything new or significant to learn from the book; a lot of information is very obvious and can be figured out without the book once one knows that all he needs is a camera/camcorder and a video editing software. All in all, YouTube for Business is probably best for those who have never touched Youtube or, I should go further, the internet before.
