From Library Journal
It is estimated that 40 percent of the visits made to doctors' offices are about gastrointestinal problems. Dr. Janowitz reports on the symptoms of these diseases, the tools used to diagnose them, and the treatments used to cure them. He explains such ailments as irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulitis, colon cancer, and sexually transmitted bowel diseases. He also covers the use of x-rays and endoscopic procedures. He recommends a high fiber diet to help prevent some intestinal problems. Since most people experience indigestion, constipation, or diarrhea at some time in their lives, this authoritative book is recommended for most health collections.
