Book Description

March 1 2012
Women feel enormous pressure to be perfect. To have the perfect body, to be a perfect woman, to have the perfect career, and to have the perfect attitude. All the time. Under all that pressure and all those expectations are women carrying burdens they were never meant to carry and suppressing the dreams they were always meant to live.

In You're Already Amazing, popular blogger and cofounder of (in)courage helps women understand and embrace the fact that they don't need to do more, be more, and have more--because they're already amazing just the way God created them to be. As a licensed counselor and certified life coach, Holley knows what readers need to hear. Like a heart-to-heart talk over coffee, reading this joy-filled book encourages women to forget the lies and expectations the world feeds them, instead believing that God made them for a purpose and that he loves them right now, at this moment, and always. Holley takes readers on a journey of the heart to discover their strengths and embrace all God created them to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for every woman out there! April 10 2012
By Carla
Format:Paperback
If I told you right at this moment that you were *AMAZING* would you believe me? (I bet not...) Would you laugh it off? (I bet you would!) Whenever I receive a compliment of this magnitude I give a weak, "oh, thanks" but then will start to list off the reasons why it's simply not true. Even though God created us to be unique & yes, amazing in His image!!

Cue in: You're Already Amazing!

This isn't just a "typical" book that you just read through, enjoy & pass on so someone else can read it. Oh no, THIS is a book that you read through, enjoy, take mental notes, then pick it up again, rearead it and work your way through it slower, thoroughly with more thought and a notebook & pen nearby! THEN, you pass it on to your daughters, friends, sisters, neighbors, etc... but don't forget to ask for it back, 'cause you're gonna want to keep this one!

This book *really* spoke to me and I was surprised at just how much I could relate to Holley. As women, and i'm talking about ALL women, single women, married women, young women, older women, etc.. we are always trying to make & keep everyone happy, no matter the cost, especially if we're short-changing ourselves. But then where do we come in? Usually dead last, correct? Ever notice how I post my never ending "to do" lists on my blog, but I don't "balance" them out with some "personal *ME* time", until i'm feeling so over-run, depleted, and overwhelmed that I have to get in some me time before I totally lose it. lol! *blush* I'd be willing to bet that most, if not all of my blog readers can relate!

This book takes you through why we are the way we are, why we act the way we do towards others and ourselves, and how to work on changing our "bad habits", but NOT ourselves!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Assuring and Inspiring April 17 2012
Format:Paperback
From beginning to end, this book emanates an inspiration that warms the heart, calms the mind, and encourages the soul. It begins with a 'dare' for readers, women in particular, to accept the following:

"You don't have to do more, be more, have more."

Beginning with a heart-to-heart talk, Holley Gerth reaches out to the inner emotions of women who tend to be overly driven toward perfection, anxiety or non-stop activities. Just like Philip Yancey's assurance about the grace of God for us, that we do not need to do more to get God's grace, or to worry that God will give us less grace if we do not perform, Gerth does the same with regards to accepting the person we are created to be. She works through this acceptance and assurance through nine fundamental questions.

Throughout the book, there are multiple charts and exercises to give readers a chance to discover themselves as amazing creation of God. Gerth writes with special understanding of the female psyche. Chapter after chapter, she works on assuring readers that it is okay to take care of themselves. It is fine to embrace one as created to be. The Go-Deeper guide and discussion questions at the end of the book will be an exciting complement for women's Bible study groups.

Closing Thoughts
=================
Three thoughts form the framework for this book. Inner assurance, emotional awareness, and inspirational application. I find myself eavesdropping into how women encourage women. Will I recommend this book to my Church womenfolks? Certainly. Will I recommend this book for men? Why not?

Gerth has done a great job in assuring women readers. Male readers can learn a tip or two from the way Gerth has written this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is God-help no self-help April 13 2012
Format:Paperback
When Holley Gerth's You're Already Amazing: Embracing Who You Are, Becoming All God Created You to Be became available I knew I was supposed to read it, certain that God would have something for me between the covers of this new book.

I admit that I'm like most other women I have met. We never quite believe we measure up, never think we're good enough. Holly's work here points the way to the truth of how God sees us, a reminder we all need.

"What God wants most of all is you. Just as you are. Then he'll show you how he wants to use your life to partner with him in fulfilling his purposes. It won't be a burden, but instead a glorious adventure - with plenty of room for mistakes, growth, and joy along the way."

This is more than mere preaching, more than just words on pages. Holly offers exercises that help us focus our thoughts and discover what we believe about ourselves and our place in the life God created for us.

"Dare to embrace who you are. Dare to do those weird things you do. Dare to trust God's whispers into your life more than the demands of the world around you about the "right way." You have the Holy Spirit within you, and he will show you what you need to change in a way that's gentle, life giving, and affirming."

When I first began reading, I was a bit skeptical. I do not like the "self-help" genre. I was happily surprised to find that this volume will not fit into that category, for it is indeed a "God-help" book, reminding all who read that He can do for us what we can not do for ourselves.

I can't think of any woman I know who would not benefit from a journey through this book!
