I've been watching Yu Yu Hakusho since the age of 5, first on Adult Swim, & later on Toonami. Just the other day, I found this box set for an excellent price, and decided to buy it, and im glad I did! I started off with the final season because i've already seen the Spirit Detective, Dark Tournament, & Chapter Black saga's on Adult Swim/Toonami, and remember them pretty well. I haven't however gotten the chance to see the Three Kings saga because the show was canceled right before it. Anyways, the box set is pretty simple. Two thin cases containing two discs each, (4 discs total), with cool art on the cases and one of the four main characters on the box it self with the Yu Yu Hakusho logo, (In this case its Kurama). Alot of people have had problems with these new thin cases, saying that the claws break easily, and cause disc damage. Im extra careful with my box sets so I don't think i'll be experiencing this problem anytime soon. Now to the show itself. If your reading this reveiw on the fourth and final box set, and not the first, then im assuming you already know what Yu Yu Hakusho is all about, so I shouldn't have to explain that. I will however explain the Three Kings Saga for those like me who might not have gotten a chance to watch, but would love to.
Soon after his bitter victory against Sensui, Yusuke has returned to the human world, but can't get over the fact that his ancestral father Raizen interupped his fight with Sensui, killing him. After trying to find help from a former spirit detective, Yusuke is greeted by Raizen's henchmen and told that Raizen has invited Yusuke to Demon world, and the two other kings, Mukoro & Yomi have invited Hiei & Kurama respectivly. The only problem is that these three kings are in fact embroiled in a feud that ages back the about a thousand years. Fast forward a bit. Under unfortunate circumstances, Yusuke announces the first ever Demon Tournament, with the winner to be crowned Demon King for the next three or four years, before they have to do it all over again, as Yusuke puts it, sort of like a "Presidential election, but with fists". Now Yusuke, Yomi, Mukoro, Hiei, Kurama, and other lethal demons from demon world have to fight it out in a no holds barred tournament to crown the new king of the demon world. While this tournament was very good, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I did the Dark Tournement that came before it. Even though a few familiar faces from the Dark Tournament make apperances. However the fight between Yusuke and Yomi was epic, and well worth the wait. The ending was also very satisfying, and gave me closure to the series. Overall not a bad way to end Yu Yu Hakusho, & I plan to buy the first three box sets as well, just to own the whole series.
5/5.
