Great apocalypse story (with eye candy),
By
This review is from: Zombies: A Record of the Year of Infection (Paperback)
If you like zombies get this book. It is very fun and interesting and the art (which fills almost every other page) is gorgeous. At the very least, the eye candy that is the pictures of zombies (zombie wedding party, zombie fisher, zombie school children) is worth it. The pages are also glossy. Seriously, this is eye candy. On top of that, the story is gripping and believable, and the cast is varied and interesting. Also half the story takes place in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba (neat!). I would love to read more books in this style.

A fun, easy to read zombie apocalypse,
By J. Friesen "Avid Reader" (Edmonton, Alberta Canada) - See all my reviews (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Zombies: A Record of the Year of Infection (Paperback)
This is a fun, light read about a zombie apocalypse. Some people might question how that is possible, but surprisingly, it is.It is written first-person style, like a journal or blog, and details how a scientist does his best to survive the end of the world. In addition to writing entries, the author adds drawings or all sorts (zombies, places, people, etc), which really takes the book to a new level in my opinion. The entries are personal and interesting, from musing about his co-workers junk food habits to what happened to his family. Finally, unlike most zombie stories, the disease is linked to a food additive, which makes most food on the shelves unsafe to eat and adds an interesting twist into his survival. The book is listed at 144 pages, but it's a quick read and shouldn't take more than an evening. I didn't care for the ending, but overall, the book was well done and I was pleasantly surprised that a large portion of it takes place in western Canada, which is fairly unique when it comes to zombie stories.

gripping yet short,
This review is from: Zombies: A Record of the Year of Infection (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book which is more of an illustrated narrative than anything else . Except for the obvious miscontent of the author regarding GMOs in 2 pages it was an interesting take on the newly revived theme.great drawings, realistic reactions of the characters portrayed, i give it 4 stars I recommend this as light reading to any zombie lover out there!
