This headphone is an excellent value for anyone looking to upgrade from sub $50 headphones to something that produces good sound but does not really want to spend the high dollars to get something like beats that everybody has. These cost around 100-120 on amazon and ebay and most ship from Japan post or EMS so you wont have to worry about paying the customs and shipping time is pretty quick. I ordered them on a friday and I had them in my hands the following friday. They come all essential accessories that come with expensive headphones like 2 cables (1 straight and 1 coiled), headphone itself, a leatherette (feels like real leather) pouch and 1/8" to 1/4" adapter. the cables are nice, thick and durable with chunky strain reliefs but the straight cable is recessed enough at the end that plugs into a device that it fits fine in my thick 3 layer seidio case for the note 2. They come in 2 colors: black and red. Both colors are understated in a matte finish but I went for red as I have too many black ones. The ear pads are nice and decent pleather but I might want to upgrade down the road. also the headband is stainless steel with plastic reinforcement that connects both of the earcups.

These headphones are essentially the cheaper and smaller version of the ath pro700mk2 which go for $150-250. Coming from cheap headphones, I was blown away by the sound quality coming from these cans. They are suppose to be bass head headphones but unlike beats they work perfectly with other genres so the mids and highs sound good as well. They let the whole sound spectrum shine. The clarity is also very good. However, the ath m50 is an overall better headphone but it is mainly suited for home use as the plug is too thick and heavy for use thick with thick case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Sound & design ! Dec 8 2012

Now, the Pro500MK2 isn't for flat studio monitoring...its meant for deep bass tracking for DJ's...the mid & Highs are all there though even though the bass tone is heavier..... its 53mm drivers are more than enough for basic tracking or mobile music listening, overall for the price & looks..Its a good BUY !

5.0 out of 5 stars If you are planning to get a pair. GET IT. Oct. 11 2013

This is my first review on any kind of products that I've bought in the past. The ATH-PRO500MK2 has met all my needs and desires. I bought a pair of M50 after reading and watching countless reviews on them. I ended up returning my M50 because I felt like I wanted a little more bass response. I tumbled across these, and I thought they look better and has a decent size. It has detachable cable, and it comes with 2 cables (coiled/straight). The red finish on this headphone looks way better in person. Even though, the ear cups are smaller than the M50, they are still very comfortable. My first reaction when I listened to PRO500MK2 was overwhelming joy. The bass is just how I like it, not too much; therefore, you can still hear all the mids and highs clearly. It was a better experience than I had with the M50. At one time, I could not decide which one I should buy between PRO500 and M50. AFter I've tried both, I can assure you that if you are looking for a pair headphone to listen to music, then the PRO500MK2 is a better option for you than the M50. I bought mine from a seller from Japan, and the shipping took about a week.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pro500MK2 vs. M-50s Nov. 8 2013
By Kevin Mahaffey - Published on Amazon.com

Yes, the bass is definitely more present (louder) than it is with the M-50s. Unfortunately, compared to the M-50s, the mids and highs on this headphone are definitely compromised. They aren't terrible, but they aren't as good as the fabulous M-50s. I would say that the M-50s have a much better open, airy, and realistic feel to them. For those of you that care mostly about the lower end of the sound spectrum, this is a great choice. For those of you that are interested in overall quality of sound, this is not the right headphone to buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super product Aug. 3 2013

These headphones are comfortable and produces incredible sound. The only minus,is they are too effective in blocking environmental noise. If you are a parent you will have a hard time getting your childrens' attention when they wear them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful... June 27 2013

Superior sound, in a quality head set that's in expensive equals winner. I was listening to these and the bass is so crisp that the headphones were literally thumping... I love these. My only gripe would probably be that the coil cable doesn't fit 3.5mm devices. But it comes with two cables so who cares!
