Product Description

From the Author

C'mon, fess up -- who out there hasn't pulled a pair of leotards onto their head and instantly been transformed into a fairy tale princess complete with long, flowing golden locks? My favorite pair were white, lace-patterned tights with an indestructible elastic waistband. (I have a male friend with the same fond preference, but that's another story.) I would pull those tights out of my underwear drawer, stretch the waistband across my scalp, give my head a Cher-like shake and voil -- gone was the pixie haircut or the Toni perm depending on what my mother and aunts' whims were that month. In their places were the flaxen tresses that had saved Rapunzel or made Lady Godiva legal. It is the princess or ballerina or fireman or cowboy that still lives inside us all that was the inspiration for my third Harlequin American Romance release, THE COWBOY AND THE COUNTESS. Its hero and heroine are Kent "K.C." Landover and Anna Delaney, two adults who have lost their way until they recapture the love and easy belief of their childhood. So, don a favorite pair of leotards and come join Kent and Anna as they remember what their hearts never forgot. Here's hoping all your childhood dreams come true, Darlene

5.0 out of 5 stars They shared a magical past. Could they share the future?, Jan 14 2001
By EB "EB" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The cowboy and the countess (Paperback)
They shared a magical past. Could the future be theirs as well?

Childhood friends and playmates, Kent Coleman Landover and Anna Delaney played for hours as "K.C. Cowboy and the Countess." But they were separated as young children and lived their separate lives apart. But Anna had followed the meteoric rise to fame and power that Kent had traveled. And she loved him still, deep in her heart where the childhood fantasies still frolicked.

An accident left Kent Landover with bumps, bruises, and amnesia. He couldn't remember his corporate successes and his fiancee who would be joined to him as little more as a business merger. All he could remember was Anna - his Countess. And now, with those memories of Anna, he strikes out to find her, determined to make her his for life.

While Kent's business hangs in the balance, he sells his L.A. home and buys a ranch, taking Anna with him. Together as K.C. Cowboy and Anna, his Countess, they will run the Rocking Horse Ranch. But as Anna begins to succumb to the illusion, her head tells her heart it's just a matter of time until Kent's memory returns, and he as a hotshot corporate success story will want nothing more to do with her. But isn't it possible that the future could hold promise for Kent and Anna? After all, fairy tales do come true. Don't they?

Ms. Scalera has written a novel of pure, heart-rending magic in "THE COWBOY AND THE COUNTESS." With delightfully evolved characters and an engaging storyline, you'll cheer for Anna and K.C. You can't go wrong with Ms. Scalera's latest offering from Harlequin American, so don't pass this one up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Witty and deliciously humorous!, April 27 2000
By Elena Channing - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The cowboy and the countess (Paperback)
As children, Kent Coleman Landover, the rich man's son, and Anna Delaney, the housekeeper's daughter, played dress-up games. Kent was KC, the Cowboy and Anna was the Countess.

Years later, Kent, now head of his own financial empire, wakes up in the hospital after a car accident, believing he is KC, the cowboy. Ignoring the protestations of his business partner and his financee, KC checks himself out of the hospital to find his one and only love, Anna, the Countess.

Anna Delaney, Clean Queen, and part owner of a new cleaning business started up by her mother and a friend, is shocked to find a cowboy at her doorstep, asking for her hand in marriage! When she realizes Kent is suffering from amnesia caused by the car accident, she is convinced by medical opinion, to play along in order to help jog Kent's memories. What she doesn't count on is that she could start wanting to believe in KC, the cowboy again; that she would want his dreams to be hers.

I was hooked from the first page! Darlene Scalera has given her fans an excellent love story. The plot was interesting and original with a twist. Scalera has a wonderful talent for spinning romance and creating characters so real and believable. Sweet, witty and deliciously humorous, this is one book, you'll want to put on your keeper's shelf! Don't miss it!
