Product Description

From AudioFile

Veteran actor, radio star, and audiobook narrator Steven Pacey brings emotion and momentum to this nautical thriller. Matching his pacing to Llewellyn's heart-stopping, life-and-death expedition is no easy task. Listeners experience all the suspense and fear of Mallory, Miller, and Andre, a motley group of special agents put together from the Allied Forces who attempt to determine if the Germans are developing the lethal A3 rocket--and where. As in most war stories, murder and violence are in evidence and may be too graphic. This enthralling story, set on a Greek island, will interest adventure lovers of all ages. 2.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better, Dec 7 2003
By M. Werner (California) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a fast paced story of WWII commandos using Alistair Maclean's characters from his two Navarone books. It is not as good as Maclean's books or even Llewellyn's own Storm Force from Navaone - the novel appears to have been rushed to publication without being fully developed or edited. However, it was enjoyable to read and difficult to put down.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a winning combination, Mar 7 2003
By A Customer
Like the other reviewer, Robert Dinger, I have really enjoyed Sam Llewellyn. I am also a great fan of Alistair MacLean's earlier works. If you expect a winning combination in THUNDERBOLT FROM NAVARONE, though, you will be sorely disappointed. The story was not captivating, the characters were not interesting. The cliff-hangers were paraded past like a sad Indiana Jones wanna-be. This is no successor for Alistair MacLean. Again, Sam Llewellyn's yacht racing mysteries are very enjoyable, especially if you're a Dick Francis fan, and I am looking forward to the next one of those.

1.0 out of 5 stars Thunderbolt from Navarone, April 20 2002
By Robert Dinger (Edmond, Oklahoma USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am a LLewellyn fan. I have to date loved all his sea storys and mysteries. I found them to be enthralling. This book bears no resemblence to his other work. It is a confusing mess. I gave it two Stars because I can't imagine myself giving him one Star. If you would like to get lost on an unromantic Greek Isle and endlessly fall off cliffs for no reason you might like it. I am mad I carried on in hopes of a great(or even)a good ending. I truly believed he would pull it out of the ooze but alass he didn't. Will the Real Sam please come back or meet me at the sea?
