About the Author
Bryan Forbes trained as an actor and performed in an number of films including
The Angry Silence (winner of the British Academy Award for the Best Screenplay),
Whistle Down the Wind, The L-Shaped Room, and
King Rat. He was then appointed Chief Executive of Elstree Studios where he was responsible for eighteen films among them
The Go-Between and
The Railway Children. He has written nine novels including
The Distant Laughter, The Rewrite Man and
The Endless Game. He is married to actress and author Nanette Newman and they live in Surrey.
