Despite the title, this is not a suspense story, but rather a tale about a small island in the Scottish Hebrides and the two talented musicians who come separately to the island and share both a secret and a special relationship. Actress Vivien Heilbron does a brillant job portraying the island characters and relaying the folkways and foibles of the people that make them unique and endearing. She brings the robust personage of Mama Jodl to life, complete with German accent and peremptory manner. Not much really happens in this novel, but Heilbron's talent keeps one listening to the rustic happenings all the way to the end. D.L.G. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine--
