The Lord of the rings is not one book, it is not a trilogy, it is 6 books and a large appendix that fills one more book. Everything makes more sense as 7 volumes. The 6 books match Tolkien's titles you can see in the tables of contents. The 6 books are a friendly size. Of course you know and like this Story. I'm here writing this review to tell you that you NEED to buy a 7 volume version and you will love it. No matter how many copies of LOTR you own this one will become your favourite. Also the 7 volume version seems to be the most up to date and authoritive - although small changs in text have nothing on simply having the right number of books.

I have already reviewed the book. I am reviewing this VERSION of it. It is published in 7 volumes, which is rare. Of course, you can tell. Lord of the rings.. 7 books??? If you look in the table of contents, it says 'book one' etc... on top of that, you get Tolkien's title for each book. So buy this version to keep sealed as your collectible. I garuntee it will be worth a fortune someday.

I am amazed this is the first review on Amazon.ca, utterly amazed.

It is a chase story, a story of Good versus Evil, involving mankind, hobbits ( man-like ), elves, orcs, goblins and magicians. If you liked Harry Potter ( and I did ), you will likely read Rings again abd again over the years.

Read about vast and complex battles and seiges of forgotten ages past, of greed, treachery and of godness, of caves and creatures unimagined. Most of all, of wisdom and courage. The story is fascinating, imaginative, vivid, and of top-notch writing, writing of a quality that is treasured when found.

FIVE STARS for sure!
