Product Description

This guidebook aims to provide a complete teaching plan for piano educators, with the focus on the very young child, aged three to seven. It includes methodology, printed music, lesson plans and tips, and advice on business and interviewing parents. The technical aspects of running a private studio, such as environment and equipment, are also described. The author argues in favour of beginning piano study at an early age, citing evidence and stragegies from early childhood education and child development research.

4.0 out of 5 stars Probably great for music teachers--not so useful for parents, April 3 2002
By Dreamdog (The Poconos, PA) - See all my reviews
I disagree with the reviewer who found this book useful for teaching her child herself. I read it, and found only two chapters that were useful for the teacher working with just one student. The rest of the book dealt with organizing and running lessons for many children, screening potential students and their families, and organizing "piano parties" (a more student-friendly form of recital). This homeschooling parent didn't find enough useful information to convince me to buy the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Practical book I have Ever Read!, Sep 30 2000
By Vatousios (Lynn, MA United States) - See all my reviews
Real information and games you can use to teach the child the most important aspects of music training and appreciation. Not only useful for the piano teacher but also for the general music teacher. Concepts of rhythmic awareness, high-low, loud-soft, notation, ear-training, techinque, etc. are being fostered through games and language that any child from 3-8 can understand. Thank you Rhoda Rabin!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Give your child a gift of music!, Jun 25 2000
By A Customer
This book has got a great technic to teach young children the art of playing piano/keyboard! It has a wonderful approach, including fun games, that will hold your child's attention while they learn! I am a homeschooling parent, so I am a teacher of all subjects and really enjoy when a book makes my job, as a teacher, easier. Most music teachers aren't willing to teach young children, so this book is a wonderful resource for parents who wish to introduce their young child to the fantastic world of music. This book will not disappoint!
