Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

Dispelling the widely held myth of genital penetration as the apogee of sexual pleasure, Kerner, who holds a doctorate in clinical sexology, offers this witty, well-researched manual for "consistently leading women to orgasm" through cunnilingus. Loaded with practical anatomical information (the clitoris has 18 distinct parts, and more nerve fibers than any other part of the human body) and graphic line drawings, the book also touches on the less mechanical, more psychological aspects of oral sex, including the three assurances every woman needs from her lover to feel comfortable: (1) "you enjoy it as much as she does"; (2) "there's no rush"; and (3) "Her scent is provocative, her taste powerful: it all emanates from the same beautiful essence." Since studies show the average woman takes about 20 minutes to reach her first orgasm during a typical sex session, while men take a mere four minutes, Kerner advises men to delay their own climax and make oral sex "coreplay" ("the substantive phase in which sexual tension builds, culminates and then releases itself through the female orgasm"), instead of foreplay. Breaking down six stages of coreplay, from the "first kiss" to orgasm, Kerner speaks to both beginners and more seasoned lovers. His candor concerning his own bout with sexual dysfunction adds a compassionate tone and credibility to this decidedly pro-female methodology.

5.0 out of 5 stars Detailed and well researched manual, Dec 31 2005

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Ian Kerner did a good job with this manual on how to perform cunnilingus. There is an in-depth presentation of the female genitalia and interesting facts that most men probably don’t know. He provides detailed instructions about what and how to do with your tongue to give her pleasure. If you are experienced, you may already know most of this stuff.

Moreover, he stresses on the importance of communication between the two lovers. The woman should feel comfortable enough to share with him what feels good and what doesn’t. I think that this important and probably often neglected aspect of sex is properly discussed in this book. Additional book I found very helpful and valuable is “Scientifically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex” by Alan Ritz.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Done, Jun 27 2004
By Denny (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
This is an admirable book on a very worthy subject. The thing I like about it most, and the reason I will recommend it to many of my patients is that it is written by a man and intended for men. A lot of times a man will have an easier time receiving instructions of a sexual nature from another man, rather than from a woman. So if your man is needing some advice about clitoral pleasure this is an excellent choice. Also, if you are interested in more "advanced" information on G-spot and multiple climaxes, the dvd/video "New Sex Now" also comes from a strong male author.

5.0 out of 5 stars real men are happy to go down., Jun 16 2004
By danw (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
I suppose it should come as a testament to the success of anti-pleasure campaigns waged by various religious factions over the centuries, that we should require entire books to be written about the relatively straightforward act of orally pleasuring the vulva. That men and women both should lack comfort with the female genitalia and knowledge of the clitoris as a woman's primary sex organ is without a doubt amazing. Yet here we are, still struggling to acknowledge the importance of the clitoris to human sexuality (both male and female really). And our moralizing friend from the heartland of Tulsa, Oklahoma would seem the embodiment of all the misogynist and anti-pleasure campaigning we as a civilization still need to overcome. Clearly no mean feat before us. Alas one can only hope he takes his own words to heart and does run off to his circle jerk in the hills. Unfortunately others of his ilk are likely to continue on promoting their version of real manhood in the name of all that is right and good. How odd that the simple act of giving pleasure to a woman one loves is somehow equated in this twisted thinking to making one less of a man. I would think this would be without question the most chivalrous thing a real man could do. But no, the pro-natalists have spoken, "If it can't cause fertilization it can't be good!" Thank you St. Augustine. I suppose we should be glad that wingnuts like this can help to make the rightwing's agenda so transparent for us all.

More to the point, I personally could have made great use of this book more than a decade ago. It surely would have saved me a great deal of trial and error, and anguish too, anguish at never quite attaining the expected marital bed bliss on a diet of penetration focused sex. For a younger person I would recommend it whole-heartedly. Even for those older "whimpy little tongue lickers" among us I think there are fine points to expand our technique, and certainly just immersing yourself for a time in the pro-female pleasure mindset is useful, and reassuring. The author is a bit verbose for my taste. I suspect the book could have been boiled down to quite a brief little tome, but then what a blockbuster it would have been - the secrets of bliss in 40 pages or less! Of course we would never quite believe that was all there was to it, so one can perhaps forgive the author his verbosity, in the name of building credibility. Otherwise the information all seems quite on the mark. One issue I would raise is the author's preference for waterbased lubes like Astroglide. I realize everyone is different but based on the success my wife and I have experienced I would heartily recommend a product called Herbal Select Body Creme from Biotone. This is a hypo-allergenic massage creme made from natural oils and marketed primarily to massage therapists (available on the web). It has wonderful glide properties, is taste-free and contains no glycols or other similar compounds to irritate tender tissues. I suspect similar products are available from other massage related vendors, as well. The only other oversight would be his recommmendation of simple battery powered vibrators over some well known wall current versions of far greater effectiveness. But these are minor complaints. One can only hope that this book does indeed become the classic it deserves to be, and women everywhere including Tulsa, Oklamhoma reap the benefits of an informed male population, at long last accurately schooled in the art of pleasuring a female partner. And women everywhere attain the level of self esteem that they recognize the deservedness of enjoying with such a partner, their own birthright sexual pleasure.
