Product Description

Victoria

Growing up in far-off India, wealthy young heiress Lady Victoria Arbuthnot was accustomed to handling her own affairs -- not to mention everyone else's. But in her sixteenth year, Vicky is unceremoniously shipped off to London to find a husband. With her usual aplomb, however, Lady Victoria gets herself engaged to the perfect English gentleman, even before setting foot on British soil.

The Rogue

Hugo Rothschild, ninth earl of Malfrey, is everything a girl could want in a future husband: he is handsome and worldly, if not rich. Lady Victoria has everything just as she'd like it. That is, if raffish young ship captain Jacob Carstairs would leave well enough alone.

Jacob's meddling is nothing short of exasperating, and Victoria is mystified by his persistence. But when it becomes clear that young Lord Malfrey just might not be all that he's professed to be, Victoria is forced to admit, for the first time in her life, that she is wrong. Not only about her fiance, but about the reason behind the handsome ship captain's interference.

About the Author

5.0étoiles sur 5 It was cute!, Avril 2 2005
Par Un client
Another Meg Cabot novel, more teenage romance.

In Meg's new novel "Victoria and the Rogue" you meet the main character 16 year old Victoria Arbuthnot. A rather controlling, a little snobby but well meaning girl. She is shipped off to England by her uncles to find a fiance. On the way there she meets Hugo Rothschild. He's everything a girl wants. Handsome, smart, and a high status. He proposes to her and she accepts. Everything is going great right? Not exactly. She also meets Captain Jacob Carstairs. He will not seem to leave Victoria alone and reveals that Hugo is a rogue. Is he right? And Victoria can't seem to figure out why Jacob seems to care so much that she's marrying Hugo... Read on to find out.

I liked this book very much. Of course I'm a sap when it comes to romance but I think that it is still very good. Victoria's character was alright. She was a little annoying to me at times. But it was nice to see a girl with her own mind in periodic books. And I loved Jacob. He was great! He sure gave Victoria a run for her money. Not your average guy trying to get a girl by showering her with compliments and such. He was cute in his own way... Read this book! ... Please?

5.0étoiles sur 5 An Enjoyable Read, Avril 24 2004
Lady Victoria Arbuthnot is a young and headstrong heiress who grew up in India after the deaths of both of her parents. When she comes to England to find a husband, she hardly expects to find one as soon as she gets on board of the ship to take her to England. Her fiancee, Hugo Rothschild, ninth earl of Malfrey, is good-looking, sophisticated, and quite a gentlemen - everything that Victoria could ever ask for in a husband. But she becomes confused about her feelings when a handsome ship captain, Jacob Carstairs, keeps interferring with her affairs.

This is the first book I read of the Avon True Romance Series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Though Victoria annoyed me at times, I thought that she was likeable. I also enjoyed that this novel was humorous. Overall, I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes Avon True Romances or would just like to enjoy a simple romance.

4.0étoiles sur 5 A Stimulating Romance for Teens, Avril 12 2004
I really did like "Victoria and the Rouge", Meg Cabot is one of my favorite authors.
This book is all about Victoria, a kind of spoiled, bratty girl who gets into people's business but really thinks she is trying to help them. All in all she is a pretty nice girl. And she gets engaged to one of the most prestigious men of London, but he's not all he seems. And then of course there is Captian Carstairs...
Overall, this book was great, I would recomend it. The plot was a little slow, not very much was happening for some of the book, but overall, it really is a good read for anyone who wants some humor and a little romance!
