Product Description

Lust is a Sin . . .

Sebastian Griffin, the Duke of Melbourne, has raised his younger siblings, seen to it that they made correct matches, and basically kept everyone in line. Seen as the most powerful man in England, Sebastian has a reputation for propriety and has maintained a scandal-free life.

Until now.

Josefina Katarina Embry is a beauty, to be sure, but she claims to be the princess of a faraway country. While she dazzles the ton with her wit and charm, Sebastian suspects she's up to something. And he's determined to expose her . . . if only he wasn't so distracted by her brazen sensuality and the irresistible allure of her kiss. Sebastian knows an affair will lead them into scandal, but will the most powerful man in England risk all for a princess of dubious lineage . . . or will he allow a most sinful desire to rule his heart?

About the Author

A native and current resident of Southern California, Suzanne Enoch loves movies almost as much as she loves books. She once appeared on an E! special, Star Wars Is Back, as an expert on the romance in the Star Wars movies. Other highlights include winning her third grade spelling bee, receiving an E.T. poster and T-shirt in an alien-inspired poetry contest, and submitting a script for The A-Team (which was not why the series was cancelled). When she is not busily working on her next novel, Suzanne likes to contemplate interesting phenomena, like how the three guppies in her aquarium became 161 guppies in five months.

2.0 out of 5 stars A mediocre piece..., Mar 5 2008
By Pra (Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
This is the first Suzanne Enoch book that I had read. I had heard lots of good things about her, but had never gotten a chance to read her before. After reading about half of this book, I figured I hadn't been missing much.

At best, this book is mediocre. Nothing special or glittering about it. Nothing special to recommend it. My hopes for this book were really high when I saw the author's note at the beginning. It said something like - This one's for Sebastian's fans; you know who you are. Something along those lines. So I figured a lot of people might have been waiting for this one to finally come out. Plus, the conclusion of any series is most fun to anticipate as well as read, as in most cases it is the story of the most hardened, most powerful, most charismatic of the family or group. Don't we just wanna see them fall? Fast and hard? The same is the case with this one. It is the story of Sebastian Griffin, the Duke of Melbourne, the oldest of the four Griffin siblings.

Alas, this story was a disappointment. A huge one at that. I don't even understand how and why the author chose the heroine she did for this hero. It was almost impossible to like her. I did not even understand how the hero started to feel he was in love with her. For most of the time, he simply lusted after her. He didn't even seem to like her all that much. But suddenly, out of the blue, he's in love.

The story could have been much better if the plot had not been so confusing. It was difficult to exactly know what all the characters were feeling at any point. The heroine took so long to realize and admit her mistakes. There were so many issues that weren't properly addressed.

And as for the ending... what happened there? How can you make a reader read 400+ pages to reach the happy conclusion, and then just abruptly end it. Given that the hero and heroine have already fully acknowledged and declared their love some 20 pages ago, but still, once everything has been sorted out, I believe I need to see some sort of reinforcement of feelings (an epilogue perhaps?). The ending was totally bland and punchless.

Unless you've read the first 3 books in the series, and really want to find out Seb's fate, go ahead and read it. Others... you can safely avoid it. There's an ocean of romance stories out there. Pick something else please.

P.S. One star for Peep (Lady Penelope, Seb's daughter from his first wife) - she was such a darling (I wouldn't mind reading her story in the future!); one star for the fun family dynamics and everything else.

3.0 out of 5 stars Even Bad Girls Can Catch A Duke, Jan 2 2008
"Princess" Josefina certainly is everything she appears to be. Her scheming father who portrays himself and his family as royalty of a non-existent country have met their match in the Griffin family and the Duke of Melbourne when they try to swindle money from the Bank of England. More intrigue and adventure than romance this book is a departure from the ranks of hot, steamy passionate historical romance. Our hero, the staunch Sebastion, is worthy of much more than a shallow faux-princess but alas Cupid has seen fit to have Josefina appeal to him in the most ridiculous way. Enoch has found the way to turn lust into love and by story's end all is well, as it should be.

To this reader's dismay both Sebastian and Josefina should have shown more depth to their characters, although fans of Enoch will already have some idea of what makes Sebastian tick. Overall this was an easy to follow story line but I still felt that there was something lacking.
