Review

"All the major clinical areas of neurology are covered using a systems approach. From cell neurophysiology to the gross anatomy and physiologic correlates, the book covers the relevant clinical neurology. As an introduction, it serves as a good bridge between the basic science and the world of clinical neurology. Particularly helpful are the clinical vignettes in each chapter that reinforce the clinical relevance of the basic science material presented." "The book is one of the best in its category. It is very useful and is one of the most comprehensive, yet readable books for residents and students."

5.0étoiles sur 5 Excellent Introduction to Neurology, Juil 25 2009
Par Tyson Brust (Toronto, Canada) - Voir tous mes commentaires
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Clinical Neurology (Paperback)
This is a perfect text for a good overview of the scope of Neurology. As a medical student, I found it prepared me well for my clinical Neurology rotations in clerkship. There are very few texts that I have read cover to cover, but this is one of them. It is well written and does not bog down in excessive detail. Rather it provides clear explanations and common differential diagnoses for most clinical presentations. I found the Stroke chapter paticularly strong.

The book is worth buying just for the figures and tables, which are well designed and clearly presented. This was one of the books that I relied on heavily as co-editor of the Neurology chapter of the soon to be released 2010 version of Toronto Notes 2009.

I would certainly recommend this book to medical students interested in Neurology or Internal Medicine. It would also be useful for junior residents, although it is probably not detailed enough for senior residents or Fellows. The seventh edition has now been released: Clinical Neurology, Seventh Edition.

5.0étoiles sur 5 great for beginning neurons, Aoû 12 2003
Par neuro resident (Northwest, USA) - Voir tous mes commentaires
This book is excellent for a general overview of neurology. It's especially useful during first year call nights as well as neurology rotations. Though it does not delve deeply into most illnesses, it offers a substanial differential diagnosis to build upon despite lack of treatment recommendations. Very easy to read as well and convenient to carry.

4.0étoiles sur 5 good for the entry level clinician, Aoû 18 2002
Par Thomas J. Hair "Waldo the Wanderer" (Radcliff, KY United States [currently Baghdad, Iraq}) - Voir tous mes commentaires
(REAL NAME)
This is a fine book for a clinician who is not at the entry level of competence. I recommend it for neurology interns and advanced medical students, mainly because there is not a better one in print. I think it lacks many therapeutic details, is too long for the student looking for a quick read power review, too limited for the advanced clinician.
