Product Description

Someone mad was screaming at them from the upstairs window of a house next to the station. It was a girl. 'Oh, that's April. Don't mind her...Deaf and dumb, see.' Abandoned by his father to a life of poverty, Tony is angry with everyone, and desperately lonely. April Dean, the deaf girl, needs friends too. But their growing relationship arouses deep prejudices which threaten to engulf not only Tony and April but also the whole village. This moving and powerful love story is about two very different people, worlds apart.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loving April, Jul 19 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Loving April (Hardcover)
I enjoyed this book, though i would NOT recommend it to children (under 12yrs)for various reasons.
The book is about a girl called April who due to an accident in her child hood, caused her to become deaf.
The people who live in Aprils village laugh at her because she does not know how to dress or behave like a young lady should and her mother is always away at work. Aprils only friends are her animals until a boy and his mother move into the village. In the story there are many comparrisons about the rich and less rich. It shows that whoever you are on the outside is very different to the person within.
