Product Description

From School Library Journal

Grade 7 Up--Moira Byrne, the 15-year-old daughter of the powerful witch Morgan of Belwicket, is faced with devastating family secrets, horrible forces, blossoming love, and possible betrayal in the 15th book of the series. Learning of her heritage, Moira gains insight and strength to conquer her fears, defeat evil, and face the future. This coming-of-age story succeeds because of balance. No one element overshadows another. The characters are well drawn and readers will empathize and agonize with Moira and Morgan's experiences and relationships with each other and the other figures in the book. The sturdy plot moves toward a satisfactory and sigh-of-relief conclusion. The mood and tension are skillfully sustained throughout, and the integration of factual information enhances the character development. The conversational tone of the writing makes this story highly readable and engaging. A good choice for fans of the series as well as those new to it.--Molly S. Kinney, Peach Public Libraries, Fort Valley, GA

4.0 out of 5 stars one word: AMAZING, Jul 13 2004
By Marie J. Garbida (Hudson, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sweep Moiras Story (Paperback)
as usual, cate tiernan blew her readers away. if you've read the rest of the series and enjoyed it, you are absolutely going to love this novel. even lying in bed so insanely tired from a long day, i couldn't put the book down, i was so into it.
Morgan Rowlands has completely changed. you can definitly see that she's gotten so powerful and stronger spiritually and in her magick. definitly not the Morgan in the previous books. and cate, as usual, put quite some laugh-out-loud lines in the novel...always loved those :).
the only thing i was sad about was that there's no book after this.

1.0 out of 5 stars What the...?, Jul 8 2004
By Quidditch (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sweep Moiras Story (Paperback)
Ok, to be fair, I haven't finished the book. I read the prologue and the first few chapters, and skipped around for a bit to confirm my suspicions on Moira's real father. Didn't read the end, though, but I hear that M/H shippers will love it...despite the fact that Hunter...he...::sobs:: Please tell me I wasn't the only one who cried at the prologue. I even called my friend, who is also reading the Sweep series, and cried about it over the phone to her.

I almost don't want to finish the book. It seems so...different. I miss Widow's Vale (how appropriate), and Kithic, and Practical Magick. I'm not liking the new characters. I don't like the situation. I miss teenage Morgan. I miss the tone of the other books. And you know what? I really wanted to read more about Alisa, too. I would have liked to know what happened with her.

I'm sad that the series is over with this. It should have gone in a different direction. Morgan and Hunter should have been together, founded a new council together, battled different evils, had Moira, etc. They should have stayed near Kithic. Maybe we should have found out what happened with the other members of Kithic. This book should have been more like the others. Should I continue reading? Or will I only be disappointed the further in I go?

On a positive note, the Sweep series is one of the best and most accurate series about Wicca that I've ever read. I reccommend that everyone read the first 14 books. I'll get back to you on the last one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Night's Child, Jun 27 2004
This review is from: Sweep Moiras Story (Paperback)
I liked this book, maybe not as much as the other WICCA books. I got confused a little about the whole jumping foward all those years bit. I dont like 15 year old Moira as much as I liked 17 year old Morgan. I liked the length of this book more than the others though, there was more attention to detail. I thought the whole de ja vu thing with Selene and Cal and Ian and his mum was quite good, but kind of the same thing that happened with Morgan when she was Moiras age. I would of definitly have liked to have read about Morgan's life from 17 onwards, instead of skipping straight to here. All in all, I do hope there is more books to follow this one. Anyone know if there is???

4.0 out of 5 stars There has been better
I enjoyed the book. I thought it was really good but parts of it made me mad. The other sweep books are excellent and grabbing. This was grabbing but not like the others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awsome book!
I loved this book. It's an amazing journey. You do really have to have read the rest of this series first, though, because most of what happens in them is retold in this book.
