Product Description

Product Description

Huy has risen from lowly origins to become the Seer of the King. Yet Amunhotep's patronage is a blessing and a curse to Huy, who feels imprisoned by the gift Thoth has imposed on him and by the life he must live to keep it. Though rewarded by wealth and influence, Huy longs for the pleasures of those he sees around him, especially love, which he fears may be forever lost to him. But when the King calls for help, Huy has no choice: He cannot refuse. Although the life he's always known is coming to an end, his contribution to Egyptian history is only just beginning.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seer of Egypt, Feb 22 2009

This is the second in a trilogy, the first being "The Twice Born", which gives you the background on "The Seer".
I would highly recommend that you read it first.
Pauline Gedge will give you a feel for life in Egypt as it was...the religion, the education, the commerce and the politics. This is presented in great detail from the perspective of both the commoner and the wealthy.
Can't wait for her to finish the final installment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ms. Gedge never disappoints., Jan 21 2009

Ce commentaire est de: The Seer Of Egypt (Paperback)
Is there another writer who can make you feel, hear, taste, and smell ancient Egypt anywhere near as well as Ms. Gedge can? The way she describes the day to day life along the Nile in ancient days is stunning. The story she has woven of the Seer Huy, Son of Hapu is intriguing and I hated putting it down anytime I had to. But now I have finished the first two entries in the trilogy and can only hope that she is hurrying to finish the final book. I haven't been able to find any information on the the third, not even a title for it. Does anyone have any information??
