Shortly after the sighting, bad things begin to happen to her and to those who might do her harm. Is Paul back to stalk her or protect her? Thompson's newest (after The Way You Look Tonight) features strong characterizations of Nicole, her daughter and her mother, and the red herrings she throws in work nicely. Where Thompson fails is in developing a believable villain and, overall, in piecing together the puzzle. If the reader can suspend disbelief, this romantic thriller will have some appeal.
