From Library Journal
Walker's first novel takes us into the near future of an ecologically ravaged Earth where the only uncontaminated food and water source is in Antarctica. To entice the Antarctic Treaty Commission to ban fishing for 30 years, the Tanaka Corporation hires Edges, a partnership of five virtual reality media manipulation experts. Jared, a member of Edges, disappears in Antarctica while his friends try to complete their contract and unravel the mystery of his disappearance. The realistic virtual reality and Antarctic scenes enhance the mystery. Highly recommended for sf collections.

From Booklist
Virtual reality becomes the pawn of twenty-first-century media manipulators in Walker's striking debut. Edges is a fledgling partnership of public relations consultants who wear high-tech virtual reality rigs to communicate and run the business from opposite sides of a globe that is overpopulated and plagued by worsening food shortages. Edges forges a contract with Tanaka, a Japanese fishing enterprise shopping for the perfect corporate image to project in the international political arena, ostensibly so that it can better push for harvesting limits in the South Atlantic. When an Edges partner is shoved from the deck of a Tanaka freighter into the frigid antarctic sea, it implies that Tanaka may have some less wholesome motives, which the Edges group working on the contract must use every computer-driven means to uncover, meanwhile frantically searching for their friend, who may not be, as presumed, dead. Walker's command of character and vivid rendition of virtual reality distinguish her as a new writer of special promise for cyberspace fans.
