Well-known actor Foxworth professionally narrates this tale of conflict and bravery in the mid-1800's on the Western frontier. Pacing, breath control and empathy add a dramatic dimension to this well-researched fictionalization of the Nez Percé conflict. Though the reading is outstanding, this abridgment sounds like a book report. Listen to, or read, the whole book to have the locale, characters and history brought to life. S.C.A. Review
"The author's attention to detail and authenticity, coupled with his ability to spin a darned good yarn, makes it easy to see why Johnston is today's best-selling frontier novelist. He's one of a handful that truly knows the territory."-- Chicago Tribune"Based on careful research and field study, [Terry C. Johnston's] novels follow the adventures of Seamus Donegan, sometimes scout, sometimes sergeant...Johnston can be considered king of the Indian wars' fiction writers."-- John D. McDermott, retired historian and administrator for the National Park Service and the Council on Historic Preservation, author of Forlorn Hope: The Battle of White Bird Canyon and the Beginning of the Nez Perce War"Rich and fascinating...There is a genuine flavor of the period and of the men who made it what it was."-- Washington Post Book World
