5.0 out of 5 stars It's still a good book even 2 years later, Dec 1 2003
By A Customer
This is a really good book. People shouldn't get mad at it because at the time the ruby and sapphire versions weren't out and Pokemon Stadium 2 wasn't out yet either--they aren't in the book. New versions and new games are always being made. But for those playing the Gold or Silver versions or the first Pokemon Stadium, I highly recommend that you buy this book. I found the reviews helpful, and it had lots of facts about glitches that I never knew about. I hope a sequal to the series (How to become a Pokemon Master, Pokemon Fever) will come out so it will include the newer Pokemon versions and newer editions of the card game. But like I said, very good for the Gold and Silver versions (especially since it has a list of every Pokemon 1-251), and it also has a pretty good glossary for those who don't know a lot about Pokemon. This is at the top of the list in terms of good Pokemon books.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book is a marketing scheme, Sep 27 2003
By Philip Mckinney (Deltona, Florida USA) - See all my reviews
The book has no literary value. You can clearly tell that the several people who reviewed this book using capital letters above was related in some way shape or form. A power hungry author? The author, that's a whole 'nother story. If I was the author I'd pull a Mark Twain and change your name on future publications you work for. This book is full of crap for its release date which was when Pokemon Gold and Silver was first released. Now we already have Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire and working towards updated reprints of Red and Green in Japan. In addition to the popular Anime, which is in its fifth/sixth season, the card game is up to its 18th expansion. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS BOOK, it is OUTDATED. Try looking on a search engine for Pokemon. It will popup more factual information than this book tries to attempt. I myself have contributed to the Pojo magazine publications prior to its seperation from a bankrupt publishing company and I now continue to contribute to the Pojo Books dealing with Magic The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, and NeoPets for example. Take my word, I've read a bunch of garbage, this is high on the list.

2.0 out of 5 stars A critical analysis, Oct 1 2002
By Andrew Nash (LA, CA, USA) - See all my reviews
In reality, I think SOME of us have learned so much about Pokemon already that we don't need this book. I also think that the author isn't asking the right kids for his books. For example, in the first book, there was about 5 pages citing kids arguing on which Pokemon is the most "powerfulest".

The question on whether this book is helpful or not is completely based on how much the reader actually knows already. In my opinion, his view towards Pokemon is not a strategical view, and if it is, it's not enough.
