Jo Patterson's husband has given her the ultimate gift-a cottage in Yorkshire. However, he's neglected to leave any money in their joint accounts, so she ekes out her living by sewing curtains and beating the bushes for grouse at the castle shoots. If you can make it through the Yorkshire accent that appears sporadically, Jan Francis's uninhibited and enthusiastic reading of the entertaining tale is definitely worth the listening. Each time you return to the tape her ebullient voice catches you up on the shenanigans of Jo's husband and his mistress, the characters upstairs and downstairs in the castle, and the possibility of romance for Jo. 'Kate Fenton's forte is sharp, contemporary comedy' -- Elizabeth Buchan, Mail on Sunday 'Too Many Godmothers is brilliant, another example of Kate Fenton's wry humor and intricate plots' -- amazon reader review 'This is great fun. It zips along with verve and energy - there isn't a dull page in it ... The characters are wonderful too, from bossy, tactless, endearing Teddy, her long suffering neighbour to the mother from from hell. If you want a tonic, try this' -- amazon reader on Too Many Godmothers 'a rollicking read, an engaging mixture of romance, intrigue and adventure that keeps you guessing until the very end' SUNDAY TIMES on PICKING UP
