Product Description

From Amazon.com

This is the third installment of Salvatore's Demon trilogy that starts with The Demon Awakens and The Demon Spirit.

Once again the demon dactyl of Corona seems defeated. Ranger Elbryan Wyndon goes north to protect the new settlers from goblins and powries, but his beloved Jilseponie returns to Palmaris. There Father Abbot Markwart is consolidating his power over Church and State with the aid of gemstone magic and the demon's power. Pony's determination to stop the evil abbots puts her and Elbryan in deadly peril, for even the king has been turned against them.

From Publishers Weekly

This extension (after The Demon Spirit) of the adventures of ranger Elbryan and his lover, Pony, may be Salvatore's strongest fantasy to date. Aided by his friends, the elf Juraviel and the sly centaur Bradwarden, Elbryan fights valiantly for the freedom of the northern lands of Honce-the-BearAfreedom from the schemes of the Abellican Church, the evil Dwarves and the royal authority of King Danube Brock Ursal. Meanwhile, Pony, who is carrying Elbryan's child, heads back south to Palmaris, which has come under the authority of the sinister sorcerer Bishop Marcalo De'Unnero. Pony is determined to avenge the death of her adoptive parentsAeven if doing so means risking her life, and her child's. Salvatore's potent mixture of detailed historical context, well-rounded characters (including secondary figures torn by conflicted loyalties to their church and state), brisk pacing and exciting battle scenes make for a consuming read. Winter is settling on the land, Uncle Mather, but somehow, fittingly, it seems quiet and soft, as if the season will be gentle this year, as if Nature herself, like all the folk of the land, is in need of respite. Read the first page

5.0 out of 5 stars A dazzling mix of human emotion, and action..., Jul 7 2004
By A Customer
In my opinion, The Demon Apostle is the greatest installment in the first part of the DW.
The fights are soaring in the dazziling department.
But this book, although filled with battles, is deeper, the mix of emotion and rage, love and care, captured my heart as I consumed every word into thought.
Another amazing thing is how Salvatore does his charecters, having several new charecters added, all of them are well built, knowing each of them as you knew yourself.
This is, by far, a must read.

4.0 out of 5 stars [CAUTION SPOILER] Satisfying End to First Demon War Saga, Mar 13 2004
By H. Alan Rosenberg "dolphins34" (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
After concluding the Demon Spirit ran out and quickly picked up this book as I had to know what happened next. Although this book is a satisfying conclusion to the First Demon War Saga, I found parts of the book slow going. I really began to miss run ins with goblins and powries and other sorts of evil doing cretures (there is an amazing battle scene 3/4 of the way into the book between Elbryan and evil doing creatures). The back and forth between the monks and king and elves got to be a little repititive, but since this book closed up a lot of open issues from earlier books I continued to read on. When Elbryan died I thought I would scream. I must say I was pleasantly shocked that Salvatore took the risk and killed off the main character in the book. These books are not battle driven like Salvatore's Drizzt books; however, I beleive you will enjoy if you open your mind and allow yourself to enter the new world of Corona.
