From AudioFile

TEXAS FURY continues the Coleman saga, with Amelia Assante, last surviving heir. After years alone, she meets and weds Cary, and together they build a billion-dollar dream, despite their age difference. But Amelia's heart attack and resultant health issues erode their love life. Fearing a second heart attack, she hatches a bold, but secretive plot. Their love story is filled with sensual, romantic dialogue and sexual tension, as well as misunderstanding. Laural Merlington characterizes Amelia with an aging, but melodious voice and a subtle elegant undertone. She sharply contrasts Cary with a robust, take-charge voice. Pacing, plot, and characterization blend to make this a well-told story. Product Description

In a career that has launched dozens of New York Times bestsellers, Fern Michaels continues to deliver the best kind of romantic fiction–seductive stories spiced with heady drama and lush characters destined to become perennial classics. One of her finest creations is the Texas series, four compelling novels about one glorious family, the Colemans. Born into privilege and bound by honor, they live and love with equal passion. Here, for the first time in a hardcover edition, is the third generation of Fern Michaels’s incomparable masterpiece, Texas Fury.

For Amelia Assante, the last surviving child of a legendary tycoon, it is a time of transition. As her family’s kingdom faces new challenges on the horizon, she starts a fateful journey that recalls a troubled past controlled by a father’s iron will. After years alone, when Amelia thought that she was beyond heartache, Cary Assante swept into her life, wiping away the shadows of tragedy with a young man’s fierce passion. Together they built a billion-dollar dream. But now her husband’s success may be the beginning of the end of their fragile marriage. While Amelia finds herself in danger of losing her beloved Cary to the temptations of another woman, she carries her own damning secret–with consequences that will reverberate across an empire, leaving her family to pick up the pieces of a shattered legacy.

From the exotic temptations of the Far East to the troubled oil fields of Texas, from the island paradise of Hawaii to a snowy mountain retreat in Switzerland, the Colemans’s lives and fates, heartbreaks and triumphs come together in the name of family–in one exciting tale fashioned by a skilled storyteller.

1.0étoiles sur 5 Fern Michaels is Texas IGNUNT, Oct. 25 2003
Par Ignunt Fool (State of Confusion) - Voir tous mes commentaires
This review is from: Texas Fury (Mass Market Paperback)
Fern, Fern, your first book in the series, Texas Rich, was captivating. Texas Heat a little less so. Texas Fury ended with a tornado, but the myriad events in this novel seemed to swirl for the duration! And then.....here's the REALLY IGNUNT part......Fern seems to have no concept of central Texas. For the location she is describing (just west of Austin), she has the terrain incorrect, the foliage incorrect, and most of all the WEATHER incorrect. At one point a character notes snow clouds in the sky, and the text reads: Snow. More snow. What region of the country did she think she was writing about? Minnesota? Snow is such a rarity, especially in this area of Texas. Ice storms do occur every few years. Not snow. Not six inches. Not more snow. And then we get to the INEXCUSABLY IGNUNT part......Fern refers to a TWO HOUR TIME DIFFERENCE between Texas (CST) and New York (EST). Huh? I'm sorry, Fern, this book was ignunt.

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Texas Fury (Mass Market Paperback)
I read the first book, Texas Rich, a few years ago and found it all right -- typical soap opera saga in a book but decently written and very well researched. When I saw the second book, Texas Heat, about six or eight months after reading the first in a "Free Books" pile, I read that and found it to be much the same, except a bit more plodding and a lot wordier than it needed to be. By the time someone gave me the third, I was ready to die of boredom. The first book wasn't bad as far as romances go, but it should have ended there. I understand Fern Michaels mercifully cut us off at the fourth. I just wish she had the wisdom to cut us off at the first.

3.0étoiles sur 5 Great story but geographically incorrect!
The story was excellent except that I do not believe Fern Michaels has ever been to Austin, Texas. It almost never (once in 10 to 15 years) snows there and absolutely never at... Read more
