Product Description

SHE SHOPPED TILL SHE DROPPED . . . DEAD.

As her wealthy friends and neighbors knew, Amanda Worth wouldn't be caught dead in a discount store. But she was. Susan Henshaw found her in a dressing room with a Hermes scarf knotted murderously tight around her elegant neck.

What possibly could have lured Amanda to the grand opening of the new outlet mall? Susan shops around for the answer and discovers that on the seamy side of suburbia, the seven deadly sins are alive and kicking. Greed, envy, illicit romance, financial chicanery--anything goes. For in this pristine Connecticut village, murder is suddenly the fashion. And one size fits all. . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, Yet Entertaining, Oct 15 2002
By Erika Sorocco (Southern California, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Everyone in the small community of Hancock knows Susan Henshaw. The somewhat famous rich sleuth. But no one thinks that her help will be needed, during a routine trip to a brand new outlet mall. Of course, everyone is wrong. Since the body of rich, beautiful, Amanda Worth, is found dead in a dressing room with an Hermes scarf tied tightly around her elegant neck. Soon Susan is thrown into a whirlwind of lies, thievery, greed, hatred, and...psychics? People whom Susan has known for years, now seem more like strangers. And one of them has to be the murderer.

This was definitely one of the BEST Susan Henshaw mysteries ever. Valerie Wolzien did a great job of developing interesting characters, whom you either hated or loved. A must-read for all fans of the cozy mystery genre.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wealthy woman dies at Mall, Oct 15 2002
By Karen Potts (Lake Jackson, Texas) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
In the wealthy, fictional town of Hancock, Connecticut, Amanda Worth stands out as a snob who has the best of everything and refuses to shop in any but the most exclusive stores. Imagine Susan Henshaw's surprise when she finds Amanda in the dressing room of the new outlet mall--------dead! Susan and her friend Kathleen begin investigating the murder and discover hints of financial ruin and hidden love affairs in the Worth's past. Add an eccentric psychic to the mix, and things become very complicated. This book has its moments, but the conclusion is still weak (as happens in several books in this series) and the supposed motives seem pretty far-fetched. This is a quick and sometimes amusing read, but the story doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, quick beach read!, Jul 30 2002
By Ruth A. Caldwell "Highland Princess Mum" (Walnut Creek, CA United States) - See all my reviews

This is my first Valerie Wolzien, and I am looking for more. She keeps you guessing to the end! Susan Henshaw has no reason to get involved in solving another murder; after all, it didn't happen in her village, nor was she especially close to the victim. Then WHY-o-WHY is she catering the wake? A cozy romance and a village of social climbers combined to keep me reading to the wee hours!
