The bodies of two newborns are discovered buried in a garden in the posh Callander Square region of London. Inspector Pitt and his precocious young wife, Charlotte, begin solving the crime from two different perspectives--one from within the walls of the peculiar residents' homes, and the other from the outside. Davina Porter accompanies the listener into the fashionable, yet shallow, world of ladies and gentlemen, cads, self-centered girls, and dedicated servants shattered by the discovery of the babies. Her portrayal of Pitt and his wife is energizing and exhibits their intelligence and dedication to one another. Diversified character performances are profound and colorful, assuring the listeners of guaranteed entertainment. B.J.P. © AudioFile 2000, Portland, Maine--
