5.0 out of 5 stars An Adorable Baby, a Rascal Goat and a Super Romance, May 4 2004
By Gracie Houston (Santa Cruz, California) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
When Carter MacKenzie's sister told him he needed to take some time off, he didn't agree with her at first. True it had been a while since he'd been with a woman and he was still getting over the recent death of his father, but he had a business to run. However she was a doctor, after all. So in the end he left New York for the wild, wooly countryside of Vermont, because his friends needed a roof on their country home and they couldn't go. But one thing led to another and the roofers couldn't do the job, so now it was up to Carter.

However, he has a couple complications, like the stubborn goat-farming woman who lives nearby. She has two teenagers and Carter can't seem to get her out of his mind. Then there is that other small complication, the baby that a teenage mother left on his doorstep. The note with the baby told Carter the young mother wanted to leave the child with Carter's friends, so now our hero is a temporary dad.

Anabell Archer is 36, raising two children alone and thinks Carter is insufferable. However her teenage kids seem to like him. Then the girl left him with her child and darn, she was falling for him.

Anne McAllister has written just the kind of romance that I adore. Plenty of people who are very believable, a plot that moves right along with good subplots to keep it going in the right direction, and a lovable baby. Oh yes, she threw in a rascal goat for good measure. In my humble opinion, you should seek this one out, you won't be sorry.
