I am rapidly becoming hooked on Harlequin Romance books for the very reason I loved this one -- they deliver an intense, emotionally satisfying helping of romance in a length I can comfortably read in one or two sittings. And that's good, because I really didn't want to put this book down!

I could relate to so many things about Mari -- her yearning for order and stability, her wariness of change and her desire to protect the people she cares about. I admired her for working so hard to overcome the abuse she'd suffered and I wanted her to find the love and happiness she deserved. Luca was the perfect match for her and a wonderful hero -- warm, charming, chivalrous and full of life, even while dealing with his own issues from the past.

The story kept a tight focus on these two characters and their growing, changing feelings for one another without ever hitting a false note. The setting of a luxury hotel in the Canadian Rockies gave the story a unique, very romantic backdrop. I could picture the scenes in my mind so vividly!

With this book, Donna Alward joins my list of favourite Harlequin Romance authors. I'm already looking forward to her next!
