Board books abound for babies and toddlers. The sleek design and artful photography that made Penny Gentieu's Baby! Talk and Wow! Babies! just right for this sturdy format also applies to her record of baby's first year, Grow! Babies! Key monthly milestones (smiling, rolling over, crawling, etc.) are marked throughout.

From School Library Journal
PreSchool-Using color photographs of 19 babies, Gentieu highlights the developmental milestones of their first year. Each spread features one large picture of a baby with smaller shots of all 19, usually at the bottom or top of the pages. The pictures show the infants engaged in an action appropriate for the text. "You are five months old. You found your toes-WOW!" For the first several months of life, the facts are generally correct. However, at nine months the author says, "You say your first word." It can sometimes be closer to 12 months before babies say their first word. At 12 months, the author says, "You know about forty words." Actually, youngsters are usually closer to 18 months before they know 40 words. Babies develop at different stages and the author presents misleading information by pinpointing exact months for specific actions.
