Product Description

From Library Journal

Since the writings of Homer, humankind has been fascinated by the tales of the great heroes of ancient Greece. In her debut novel, Franklin takes us to the walls of Troy and presents to us the men and women behind the myths. In this rich and tightly woven tapestry of story and history, we witness the grandeur and the destruction of Troy through the eyes of Briseis, once queen of Lyrnessos and now the captive and consort of Achilles. Briseis is bound to Achilles by more than just her chains, but when she catches the eye of Agamemnon, trouble starts brewing in the Greek camp. Maps and a list of the characters help guide readers through the text. Well recommended for all lovers of historical fiction.?Jane Baird, Anchorage Municipal Libs., AK

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed it until the end!, Jun 8 2004
By A Customer
The story is told in such a fresh new way. It's actually a long book, and almost every page is interesting, and you read until the end, and you can't stop! This book is about a girl named Briseis and is narrated by her. She tells about her life, her brothers, parents, and the love. She had a husband, but her heart was won by Achilles. Its just a splendid historical fiction that i think everyone should be given a change to enjoy this book. I hope this author writes more books!

5.0 out of 5 stars enjoyed it very much, Jun 2 2004
By A Customer
I really liked the book. It's historical fiction, so there is a lot of what is going on around the time of the Trojan War and before that. It's narrated by Bresies, and she is Achilles prize. It's basically everything from her point of veiw, from when she's around thirteen years old. You'll find out how they lived, what they did, and what kind of life it was. Also, there is a great love story, and just an all together well written book.

3.0 out of 5 stars deceiving, May 30 2004

Ce commentaire est de: Daughter Of Troy (Paperback)
I enjoyed reading this book. I think its a really good story and it shows another side of the Issues between Achilles and Agamemmnon. However, i thought this book would be mostly about Briseis and Achilles, but most of the book is about Briseis's childhood. I still enjoyed the book, i just thought it would be different.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, but not great
I bought this thinking that a novel told from the POV of Briseis would be an interesting read. I was half right. Lisez davantage

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful title for the story, awful story
I expected better. The title should not be Daughter of Troy, as the character is in Troy only once, and not a Trojan. Lisez davantage

4.0 out of 5 stars ... a good story anyway
I agree with other reviewers who say there is too much irrelevant sex in _Daughter or Troy_. That said, on to the good stuff. Lisez davantage
