4.0 out of 5 stars Great book but not as good as Vurt, Nov 19 2002
By "dib5000x" (Phoenix, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nymphomation (Paperback)
this was a really good book, i immidiatly picked it up after reading VURT (which in my opinion is the best book ever so read it!) I went into reading this book with very high expectations because VURT was soooo good. Nymphomation was good dont get me wrong i enjoyed it a lot but towards the end it gets a little stretched out. This is another Noon masterpiece but take my advice and read Vurt first.

5.0 out of 5 stars PLAY TO WIN: this book tells you how, Jul 12 2002
By sebastian hope (Olympia WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nymphomation (Paperback)
My god, read this book. Jeff Noon is one of the few science fiction writers out there who is writing on all cylinders. This tells a story of lottery-mania, restaurants, love, gambling, obsession and life in all its wasted glory.

Remember, reading Jeff Noon makes you smart.

5.0 out of 5 stars astonishing., Nov 8 2001
This review is from: Nymphomation (Paperback)
PLAY TO WIN PLAY TO WIN PLAY TO WIN.

i'd looked at this book - and jeff noon in particular, quite a bit in the bookstores. kept picking it up, then putting it down again .. then again, and again. it started with 'automated alice', one of his other books (which is now, after reading this, next on my list to purchase!), and i just somehow picked this one up instead.

i have never found a science-fiction book to be so poetic. the style, the rhythm, the characterisation.. everything felt like a bizarre cubist landscape, with super-automated camera jibes. twists and turns - this is a book for the imaginative, for those who can -see- a book while it is being read.. read it in one sitting. jeff noon is absolutely incredible, and i fully intend to purchase the rest of his artistry.

1.0 out of 5 stars never read this
This is possibly the WORST book that I have ever read! This phenominally badly written book is packed with obviously out of touch attempts to key into areas of youth culture... Read more

I found Jeff Noon's "Vurt" to be an extraordinarily exciting head trip through his most phenomenal imagination; I loved it! Read more
